International Comics Expo (ICE) 2015, The Geek Syndicate 'Is It Time For Dredd To Take The Long Walk?' Panel (5th Sept 2015) On Saturday 5th September, AEISD attended the International Comics Expo in Birmingham, UK, and was intrigued by the title of a panel that was scheduled: I was planning on moving on but the next panels title intrigued me: 'Is It Time For Dredd To Take The Long Walk'? Really? That's what The Geek Syndicate (Barry 'Nuge' Nugent and David 'Monts' Monteith) had the balls to ask? In Birmingham, one of the biggest selling demographics of 2000AD in the UK?? Many people, when faced down with the hungry, rapacious fan base of a character that many assume belongs in the annals of comics history, are gobsmacked by how many will come out of the woodwork when it comes to Dredd - Nuge and Monts certainly gave it the 'rabbit in the headlights' when they glanced and were struck that they were now talking to a full room, standing room only, all of whom were adamantly against the idea of their anti-hero

The good news is, now that the event is done and dusted, not only can Marc come back on the show with a bit of hindsight, we can also invite some other D23 attendees to let us know what their impressions of this mammoth event was. From what we've heard, D23 Expo has turned into quite the monster, with a couple of glaring glitches, but on the whole, everyone had one whale of a time - how did Disney actually pull this off? This years event was certainly one of the most intense and stressful in recent memory, with so much to see and do - and also so much effort required to see what you could.

Posting and writing under the moniker An Englishman In San Diego, all about San Diego Comic-Con, con and pop culture, I was honoured to be invited this year onto an Comic-Con panel all about the rise of the blogging and internet subculture that has risen around this amazing event. So, at 10am in Room 14A, one of the first panels of the entire covention took place: The Wrath Of Con Bloggers, arranged and moderated by Tony Kim, aka Crazy 4 Comic-Con and also featuring Alyssa Franks from the Friends Of CCI Forum and Megan Gotch from The Nerdy Girlie. For an hour, we talked about our humble beginnings in fandom, our motivations for translating that fandom to a presence on the interwebs, and what con blogging can achieve, not only for the people writing but also those reading. I recorded the panel myself but so did Tony - to some degree - this podcast is a combination of those those audio files - enjoy!
