Spring has finally arrived, the sun is shining, and we have a brand new Geektown Radio for you, packed with all the latest film & tv news, plus the return of our old friend, composer Fil Eisler. Fil is back for his 5th time on the show, to update us on all his current tv & film work, and his upcoming projects. For those of you that haven’t heard the other 4 times he’s been on the show, Fil started out as a songwriter and guitar player with Robbie Williams, before moving into composing for tv & film. He is the man behind the music for E4's Empire, the brilliant UnREAL, and Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce. He recently completed working on the soundtrack to the movie CHIPS, and To the Bone, the directorial debut of Buffy/Angel writer and UnREAL creator Marti Noxon, starring Keanu Reeves & Lily Collins. On this week's episode of Geektown Radio, we don't just have one guest, we have four! Nick Helm, Jim Howick, Samuel Anderson & Jonny Sweet, otherwise known as the cast of Channel 4's brand new comedy drama 'LOADED', which airs from Monday the 8th May 2017 at 10pm. LOADED centres around the lives of tech entrepreneurs and friends Josh, Leon, Watto and Ewan, who have just sold their start up videogame company for hundreds of millions of pounds. Amid a raging hurricane of money, excess and “millionaire’s guilt”, LOADED is about friendship, ambition, gluttony, the peculiar British distaste for other people’s success and how money can put even life-long friendships to the test. On this week's episode of Geektown Radio, we have all the usual tv, game and film chat, plus we talk to our very first make up artist. But he's not any old make up artist... He's the Academy Award winning, makeup and special makeup designer of Logan, Joel Harlow! Joel is one of the most innovative makeup and special makeup artists and designers in film today. His CV is frankly, ridiculous, from aging (and de-aging) Hugh Jackman and shaving Stephen Merchant for Logan, to creating makeup for aliens in the Star Trek movies, to working with Johnny Depp on pretty much all of his more recent films, including the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. He's worked with Spielberg on A.I., Chris Nolan on Inception, The Wachowskis on The Matrix movies, and Ron Howard on The Grinch. For those of you into your heavy metal, you might know Alec from his days with the California band Deadsy. Since they went on 'indefinite hiatus' in 2007, he has grown the composing side of his career, scoring over 40 films, thousands of hours of television, and countless advertisements. He is probably best known for scoring the hit US drama The Fosters, and the vigilante dark comedy Sweet/Vicious along with films such as The Art Of Getting By starring Emma Roberts and Freddie Highmore and Higher Ground starring Academy Award Nominee Vera Farmiga. On Geektown Radio this week, we take a look a Amazon's newest pilots, run down the casting for Marvel's The Inhumans, and have a very special guest - actress Keesha Sharp from the new hit US show Lethal Weapon! Keesha is an LA based actress, who you may have seen as Dale Cochran in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Sheila in Everybody Hates Chris, Monica in Girlfriends, or Gigi in Are We There Yet? Her latest role is playing Trish Murtaugh, wife of the iconic character Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans), on the new tv adaptation of the classic Lethal Weapon franchise. Lev in a NYC based novelist and journalist, who released his first novel, Warp, in 1997, and his second Codex, in 2004 which became an international bestseller. However, it’s his work on The Magicians, which was published in 2009, that shot him into the stratosphere, becoming a New York Times bestseller and one of the New Yorker's best books of the year. We are back for episode 101, and if you're a gaming fan, we have a huge treat for you! Along with all the usual tv chat, news and air date information, this week's guest is somewhat gaming royalty. Hitman's David Bateson, the voice of Agent 47 himself! David is a South African actor, born to English parents who now lives in Denmark. He’s worked across film, tv and theatre, but what we know and love him best for, is his voice work as Agent 47 in the long running Hitman video games. He has voiced the character since it’s inception in the year 2000, and, as far as we can tell, he is one of the longest serving voice actors in gaming history. We got to talk to him about his work, how the character has evolved, and some of his favourite scenes in the games. We're a little bit late this week, but to make up for it, we have a brilliant interview with Barry Robison, the Production Designer for the 6 x Oscar Nominated Hacksaw Ridge! HACKSAW RIDGE is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss (BAFTA winner and Golden Globe nominee Andrew Garfield) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honour. We return from our holidays with the gift of a new podcast, and an interview with the Creators/Writers/Directors of BBC's wonderful comedy Uncle, Oli Refson and Lilah Vandenburgh. In our final show of 2016 we have the usual TV News, UK TV Air Date information, and an interview with the very lovely Maude Hirst from the Amazon Prime Video & History Channel series VIKINGS. You may recognise Maude from her role as Kat Ashley in The Tudors, but more likely you’ll know her as Helga, wife of Floki in the brilliant Vikings, which airs on Amazon Prime Video and the History Channel in the UK. She is a graduate from London’s Italia Conti school, and founded Tuppence Films, which specialises in producing work with strong female leads, including the 2013 feature film, Smoke.
