Trek Mate The Delta Quadrant

The crew of Voyager discover a planet that has the technology to send them more than halfway along their journey home. However, the planet’s inhabitants are more than reluctant to share this technology with Voyager’s crew, as doing so would violate one of the society’s own prime directives. We’re joined by Jared Formby this week for this discussion/review of Prime Factors. Also, we got some great listener feedback this week. Keep those emails coming in! The Enterprise discovers a ship that crashed on a Dyson sphere more than seventy-five years prior with a single survivor suspended in the transporter buffer: Captain Montgomery Scott. This episode was actually recorded quite a while ago and wasn’t intended to be a full on review of our off shoot review series but more of a mini retrospective. Sadly this was recorded before J.D. joined the podcast so please forgive his absence. Also, please forgive Matt and I as we are not completely on point in regard to the review as we didn’t have much prep time prior to recording.

With energy reserves nearly depleted, Voyager investigates possible resources inside a nebula, which – as it turns out – is not really a nebula. Investigating an apparent distress call, Voyager becomes trapped inside the event horizon of a quantum singularity. It’s the first episode after the pilot and it’s not a bad start. There’s a little too much technobabble at times but the character moments help carry this episode to the end. Also, we introduced a few new segments including a new ratings system based off of the Netflix star rating system: 1 Star = Hated it. 2 Stars = Didn’t Like It. 3 Stars = Liked It. 4 Stars = Really Liked It. 5 Stars = Loved It.

The newly commissioned starship Voyager and a Maquis raider are flung into the remote Delta Quadrant by a powerful entity known as the Caretaker. In our pilot episode, Benji and I discuss another pilot episode. Also, we both give our overall rating for in regard to the other Star Trek pilots.
