Glasgow, Scotland
03/05/2014This week Chris explores Glasgow – host of the Commonwealth Games this summer. Glasgow has been recognized as a must visit destination for 2014 by a plethora of international publications. Anyone who knew Glasgow even 10 years ago would be amazed at the change – Glasgow is one of Europe's most vibrant, dynamic and stylish cities. It’s a transformation that began in the 1990’s and which represents much that is new, merged with a hugely successful reclaiming of the past. The city has a rich heritage of fantastic Victorian architecture – plus it is well known for the Art Nouveau splendour of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Glasgow born architect, designer and artist. Glasgow offers visitors a rich array of activities and attractions. The city has over 20 museums and galleries, most with free entry, and there are over 1 million objects in the Glasgow Museums' collections! It is also a UNESCO City of Music, further reflecting the strong cultural life of the city.
