It's predictions time again, we took a look at the run in with 6 games to go for Aston Villa, now we're back to look at the final two - Liverpool and Brighton. Unai Emery's Aston Villa face an uphill task to secure a place in the Top 7 needing Brighton and/or Tottenham to drop points, whilst not impossible, it is probably unlikely. But, one can dream.

All set for a huge game at Villa Park this weekend as European qualification chasing rivals Tottenham visit B6. It feels like a winner-takes-all match, a game that Villa simply have to win to stand any chance of finishing in a Top 7 place.

Back in June 2021 we spoke to the brilliant John Gregory on the podcast, and he gave us almost 3 hours of his time which we cut into an episode lasting over 2 and a half hours. Barcelona's football director Mateu Alemany looks set to join Aston Villa this summer after deciding to leave the Spanish giants this week. BirminghamLive understands that Villa have opened negotiations to appoint Alemany in a key role within the club. Villa are hopeful a deal can be struck and the 60-year-old can begin working at Bodymoor Heath in time for the summer window to open.

It's the start of May now and we still can't quite believe what we're seeing from Unai Emery's Aston Villa. The transformation in the fortunes of the club from November to now cannot be understated, and whatever happens in the final games of the 22/23 season, Villa fans have a team they can be proud of. There were a handful of players at the end of the Steven Gerrard era that you may have thought weren't good enough to mount a charge on the Top 6 and needed shipping out. Six months later, not only has Unai Emery got those players ticking again, they've arguably all doubled in value and become even better footballers.

Unai Emery's 10 match unbeaten streak with Aston Villa comes to an end away at Old Trafford. A first half goal from Bruno Fernandes was enough to seal all three points for the home side, and Villa failed to score in a match under Emery for the first time. Villa's quest for European qualification is not yet over though, with 4 games still to go, there's plenty to play for.

Unai Emery's Aston Villa side are currently on a 10 game unbeaten streak and will travel to Old Trafford this Sunday to face Manchester United. United head into this game off the back of a 2-2 draw with Tottenham, despite leading two-nil. Whilst Villa have had a full week to recover and prepare for this game after a relatively easy run out against Fulham, despite the fact it was only 1-0.
