  • Channel 37's Midnight Movie Show: Episode 32 - Heathers and Jawbreaker

    16/08/2024 Duración: 01h17min

Ah, high school. The learning, the growing, the unrelenting PTSD. This week we recover some repressed memories with 1989's Heathers. Then, we watch the same movie, but with more 90s and Rose McGowan just being awesome, with 1999's Jawbreaker.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37

  • Dread Media - Episode 885

    12/08/2024 Duración: 01h14min

You know the review is going to be something when it begins with an apology. This week, Tom made Desmond watch Blood Theatre. Then, Desmond (after being put off films maybe forever) reviewed the last two books he read: The Atrocity Engine by Tim Waggoner and Draw You in Vol. 1: Collector's Item by Jasper Bark. Songs included: "Attrition" by Poison Ruin, "Theatre of Horror" by Revocation, "Without a Trace" by GosT featuring Hayley Stewart, and "Heavy is the Crown of Bone" by Crypt Sermon. • Part of Your World: Zootopia

    10/08/2024 Duración: 02h12min

Chekov's carrots, bizarre British rebrandings, and subverted stereotypes stampede through the review as Christian, Pandy, and Kelly explore Zootopia! (NOTE: The next episode won't come out until August 31st at the earliest. In the meantime, feel free to send feedback to disney@earth-2.net or leave it at the Earth-2.net forums!)

  • Dread Media - Episode 884

    05/08/2024 Duración: 01h09min

This week, Desmond and Duane get weird again with their review of the obscure 1989 erotic horror quasi-sequel to the German Expressionist masterpiece of the similar name, Dr. Caligari. Then, in a mix of laziness and a desire to rewatch it, Desmond comes back and discusses that classic: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. There's probably nothing else to say about this 104-year-old film that hasn't already been said, but coaxing those who haven't watched it to watch it. So here we are. Sure, you say, "Des will probably play a mix of new and classic aggressive but straightforward music." WRONG! Only one of the songs this week actually has vocals, and it's a sci-fi hip hop classic. This week, we embrace the good weird. Songs: "Melding of the Minds" by Deltron 3030 featuring Zach de la Rocha, "Sexualizer" by Perturbator featuring Flash Arnold, "Sleepwalk" by The Shadows, and "Night River" by Shadow Knell. • Channel 37's Midnight Movie Show: Episode 31 - Allegro non troppo and Wizards

    02/08/2024 Duración: 01h09min

Christian is here, and with him comes our annual animation discussion. Once upon a time, someone watched Fantasia, thought to themselves, "You know, this could be weirder," and thus sprang 1977's Allegro non troppo. Afterwards, everyone takes a deep breath, puts on their Ralph Bakshi pants, and delves into 1977's Wizards.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37

  • Dread Media - Episode 883

    29/07/2024 Duración: 55min

This week, Desmond and Tom watch a kidnapping plot go sideways when it is discovered that Abigail is not just any little ballerina. Then Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Horror Crime Stories. Songs included: "Abigail" by King Diamond, "Blood and Tears" by Danzig, "TV Crimes" by Black Sabbath, and "High on the Crime" by Turbonegro. Send feedback to: dreadmediapodcast@gmail.com. With Deadpool and Wolverine now in theaters, Christian and Tom join forces once again to dissect another X-adjacent adaptation: Disney's Big Hero 6!

  • Dread Media - Episode 882

    22/07/2024 Duración: 01h04min

This week, Desmond and Duane marvel over the visuals (but not so much the story) of the beautiful Stopmotion. Then, inspired, Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Films that Mix Live Action and Animation. Perhaps the weirdest track list for an episode thus far: "Attacked by Monsters" by Meat Puppets, "Anema" by Tool, "04/12/05 Tuesday" by Fantomas, and "(Cartoon~) The Creed" by MD.45. • Channel 37's Midnight Movie Show: Episode 30 - Black Belt Jones and Master of the Flying Guillotine

    19/07/2024 Duración: 01h21min

Donovan enters the octagon that is the Channel 37 Home Office to class up the place with two-fisted kickpunchery! We don't want to oversell things, but we may have seen the greatest thing in the history of things with 1974's Black Belt Jones. Then, we were worried that film was too buttoned-down and sensible, so we loosened up with 1976's Master of the Flying Guillotine.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37

  • Dread Media - Episode 881

    15/07/2024 Duración: 01h15min

    08/07/2024 Duración: 01h01min

Before Duane suggested The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre, Desmond had never heard of it. But when a young Martin Landau is playing an occult investigator in a TV movie intended to be the pilot for an anthology horror series that is available on a free streaming platform, I watch it. I'm a simple man. Then, Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Occult Investigators. Songs included: "The Night Creeps Upon Me" by End Reign, "It's Not OK" by The Obsessed, "Possibilities of an Impossible Existence" by Whitechapel, and "A Stranger" by A Perfect Circle. • Channel 37's Midnight Movie Show: Episode 29 - X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes and A Bucket of Blood

    28/06/2024 Duración: 01h09min

For the first time in nearly a century, we wake up in the morning to a world without Roger Corman in it. In addition to reshaping the face of American cinema for generations, he also directed a few movies. We spend as much time as we can discussing 1963's X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes and 1959's A Bucket of Blood before we can hold back no longer and gush about how awesome Dick Miller is. Kirby, WHXN's Executive Vice President of Wanting You to Throw the Ball, Please, chimes in with his own thoughts.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37

  • Channel 37's Midnight Movie Show: Episode 28 - Sightseers and Duel

    21/06/2024 Duración: 01h30min

The New and Improved British Invasion is well and truly underway, as Ian stops by the Channel 37 Home Office to remind everyone of the clear and present danger we are all in from that guy in the car next to us. Especially those two in the camper, as evinced by 2012's Sightseers. After that, we're reminded of a uniquely American sort of vehicular homicide, brought to us by some rookie director whose name we've already forgotten. Anyway, here's 1972's Duel.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37

  • Dread Media - Episode 877

    17/06/2024 Duración: 59min

You know when you take a family on a road trip and the number one rule is avoid vampires? Obviously, the desert is the place to go. Not anymore. Desmond and Tom dig into Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat. This comedy horror western is chock full of nonsense to talk about, so enjoy the review. Then Desmond comes back to go solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Horror Oddities from the Late 80s/early 90s. Songs included: "Blood Will Have Blood" by Knocked Loose, "Life After Sundown" by Ghoultown, "Creep in the Cellar" by Butthole Surfers, and "To Flow Through Ashen Hearts" by Ulcerate. • Part of Your World: Winnie the Pooh

    15/06/2024 Duración: 01h05min

Despite being the shortest non-package animated Disney film (as well as the last traditionally animated one for now), Christian and Donovan have a surprising amount to say about 2011's Winnie the Pooh! (RIP Richard M Sherman.)

  • Channel 37's Midnight Movie Show: Episode 27 - Frankenstein and Tammy and the T-Rex

    14/06/2024 Duración: 01h17min

Speculative fiction has long been a means of answering some of life's greatest questions. What happens when we die? What are we going to do with all these dead guys' brains lying around? Can Denise Richards have implied sex with a robot dinosaur in a way that doesn't trample her character's sense of agency? All this and more, as we study 1931's Frankenstein and 1994's Tam(nn)my and the (Teenage) T-Rex!Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37
