The End of Breaking Bad. Wow. I think I'm still in denial, honestly, but what I'm not denying is this: this was the most incredible finale season I've ever seen, and I am 100% satisfied with how things went for the final episode.

The penultimate episode turned out to be the calm before the presumed storm of the finale. It featured many scenes of quiet introspection, a character study of two desperate men; one with no choices available to him at all, and the other with a few good choices left but lacking the will to act on any of them, too prideful and stubborn to admit defeat. Not to his lawyer, not to the authorities, not to his family, not to death himself. Come join us for a discussion of vulgar neo-nazi gang signs, dopey, dead-eyed pieces of shit, the arguable "death" of Heisenberg, grey matters, the plump, full lips gang, Flynn's righteous anger, and the straw(s) that un-broke the Heisenberg's back.

We had a lot to say about this episode, without talking about the actual episode. Is that weird? It's just all our thoughts and feelings about this season, and where it's going, and whether we feel good about it or not. It's a weird "instant cast" for a weird, slower paced, brutal penultimate episode. I think my last hopes for even a modicum of happy ending died tonight. Can't wait to see what everybody else thought!

Watching this episode took a year off my life, Princess Bride-style. It felt like it lasted 3 weeks long. It was sad, heart-pounding, gut wrenching, and absolutely a stunning hour of television. This episode, 512 entitle "Rabid Dog" turned out to be a bit of a breather, especially compared with the previous 3 of this final season. Not a bad thing, or our hearts would explode before the end. Still lots and lots to talk about, including hitting Walt where he "really" lives, the sour turn Skyler, Marie, and Hank seemed to take this week, the continued heart break of poor Walt Jr, Aaron Paul and Dean Norris's continued excellence, Babylon 5, Walt's room clearing ability, and much more. Jim and A.Ron celebrate one of the greatest episodes in Breaking Bad / Television history! By anyone's estimate, episode 511, "Confessions", was tense, gripping, and incredibly satisfying to watch. And what else is lurking out there, in two flash forwards and an enigmatic scene between Meth Damon and his Uncles of Anarchy? I sure as hell don't know, but can't wait to find out!

A.Ron's in Seattle and I'm left to run the studio myself. Unfortunately, I'm like Jesse on his first cook, fumbling with the controls, shouting "Yo, bitch!" into the air, getting Fun-Yuns dust and chili powder everywhere. And so we resort to the backup recording devices. A.Ron had a flight to catch so we chat for a little over an hour about our takes and some corrections from last episode and decide to save the feedback until the season 5.1 wrapup podcast next week.

Tonight we mark the passing of one of the all time great television characters. The question remaining is how many iconic characters will we see go before this tragedy is all said and done? Will this really be an "everybody dies" situation? Can we hold out hope for Walt, Jesse, Skyler, Jr., Holly, Hank, Marie, or Saul? Only time will tell.
