  • The Elevator Radio Show #497 - Week 3/7/18

    07/03/2018

It was nice to see many of you at the NAESA International Spring Workshop on Friday. I appreciate the opportunity to provide a very quick update on the EESF and what we covered during our annual meeting.  Education is critical in everything we do and continuing it yearly if not daily is important. The day I stop learning something new is the day I should be in the eight feet under. Share what you learn with others, especially when it comes to preserving and protecting the safety of others.

  • The Elevator Radio Show #496 - Week 2/28/18

    28/02/2018

There is so much to cover on the show today that’ I’m certain of leaving something or many things out.  First and foremost I’m back from the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation Annual General Meeting and it felt good to pass the gavel on to Mark Mullins the EESF’s new Chairman.  I’m proud to be a member of the foundation and also to have helped it these past few years but now it’s ready for the executive board to help it reach its goals and promote its mission. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  It’s an action packed show today with lots to cover.  Next week I’ll be in Tampa attending the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation Annual General Meeting. I’m looking forward to it and sharing the progress the EESF has been making.  I’ve been lucky to have had my turn helping guide the foundation along and look forward to supporting it in the future.  I return early Wednesday so there will be no show next week.   News/Article Links: Oracle Elevator completes four acquisitions Swiss Skier not so smart Required upgrades to single-speed elevators lifted Please don’t take dogs or cats on escalators! Feeling much better after having the flu and can honestly say I can’t remember the last time an illness kicked my butt like this.  It’s not a warm and fuzzy show today as I get caught up on two weeks of news to share.  I was surprised how good it felt to get up this morning at 2 am.   News/Article Links: Repair worker dies in elevator fall Woman dies in BART escalator fall in SF Russian’s Snubbed In Elevator Child, man injured in elevator accident Man gets leg stuck in escalator MESA Renewal Online Broken elevators cause agonizing lines EESF AGM Meeting Dates Set Teach our kids about creeps like this Century old elevator keeps visitors out Carnegie Building gets lift NAESA International Workshops Some worry about subway elevators and attacks Huge idiot at it again – What’s an elevator maintenance test? As we learn the identity of the mechanic who was killed in a work related accident last week I think it hurts even more after learning he was a young father. • The Elevator Radio Show #492 - Week 1/10/18

    10/01/2018

This New Year has started off tragically when an elevator mechanic was found dead on top of an elevator in Texas.  Details are still not complete yet and I will share them as they become available. As much as we talk about safety we need to press on and continue to promote it so that there are zero accidents and zero fatalities. The work that’s done in our industry is dangerous and not worth the pay grade many mechanics make if they don’t make it home to their family each night.  Do your part to press safety. Make it become the first thing you think about getting out of bed each morning.

  • The Elevator Radio Show #491 - Week 12/27/17

    27/12/2017

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.  It was great to see family and friends and by the time Tuesday rolled around it was nice to have an extra day off. It’s a very light show today. I almost didn’t produce it as my computer took about an hour to update this morning but it finally finished.  Also I was a little disheartened at the fact that the number one website link that pulled up in my news collector was that of a bloke sliding down the center of an escalator which should NEVER be done!  I wish that ad revenue and human kind in general didn’t feed the machine like this. Happy New Year, looking forward to the opportunities to make our industry a better one on in 2018! Last Show Of The Month – Prize Pack Giveaway – Thanks To The Following Sponsors: C.J.
