He has trained in various fighting systems like western boxing and greco-roman wrestling to WingTsun, Jujitsu and Kali. And he has an upcoming movie, called 'Paradox' costarring with Tony Jaa, and with none other than Sammy Hung directing the action. It was great to find out how a boxer and wrestler would appreciate Wing Tsun for its out of the box approach to self-defense. I really enjoyed the story where Sifu Collins spoke of the three ways of making a living as a Martial Artist, and I think you will get a lot of value out of that, especially if you plan on doing it as a profession. Once he understood the effectiveness and simplicity of Ving Tsun, he never looked back. This was one of the most profound interviews I have done for the Sifu's Stories Podcast and I enjoyed the story about Dwight sitting down with his Sifu for lunch, where his Sifu would ask him two questions that would change his life for ever. He now runs 5 branches in Queensland, teaching 7 days a week just like his Sifu. I enjoyed listening to Sifu Leung's story of how he started out with Wing Chun despite the fact that he had been training karate for years, and I felt incredibly inspired by the story of his Sifu, Wan Kam Leung, breaking a wooden dummy arm clean off with a Huen Sao action. • Episode 9 - Sifu John Smith And The Essence of Being Simple, Direct And Efficient

    26/03/2017 Duración: 28min

Sifu John Smith has been learning the Ving Tsun system since 1985. It was not until 1989 that John had the chance to do some training with David Peterson in Melbourne, whom John regards as the most knowledgeable foreign student to pass on the Wong Shun Leung method of Ving Tsun Gung Fu as mentioned by Wong Shun Leung himself. It was in 1991 John Smith ventured to Hong Kong, and trained under, whom John believes to be the undisputed master teacher of the Ving Tsun system, the late "Wong Shun Leung". Since that time having travelled regularly to Hong Kong to learn under Wong Shun Leung until his un-timely death in 1997. I particularly enjoyed talking about the 'How to' in Wing Chun/Ving Tsun where you NEED to have strong punches and use them as your primary action. Sifu Smith describes the 3 levels of excellence as he learned them from his teacher, Wong Shun Leung: block than attack, block and attack at the same time and counter hit the person in one action. Listen to the episode to get a better idea of how to

  • Episode 8 - Sifu David Peterson And The Legacy of Wong Shun Leung 'The King Of Talking Hands'

    19/03/2017 Duración: 40min

Sifu David Peterson has been training in the Chinese martial arts since 1973.  He became a student of Sifu Wong Shun Leung, who was Ip Man's most famous student and Bruce Lee's mentor, after travelling to Hong Kong in 1983. Peterson is one of only two fully qualified instructors of Wong's system in Australia actually certified and authorised by Sifu Wong personally. I remember reading Sifu Peterson's book: 'Look Beyond the Pointing Finger: The Combat Philosophy of Wong Shun Leung' while working the night shift in the reception of a hotel in Crete, Greece.  It was two years since I had started training Wing Chun and so much was coming together while reading the book about his Sifu's fighting method. It was a great pleasure to sit down and chat with David Peterson about his experience in Hong Kong, his favourite Wing Chun stories and, of course, the legacy of his late Sifu, Wong Shun Leung. After talking to him I got inspired to buy the documentary: 'Wong Shun Leung: The King Of Talking Hands' and I absolutely

  • Episode 7 – Sifu Kleber Battaglia On Being a Foreign Sifu In China

    12/03/2017 Duración: 44min

Sifu Kleber Battaglia is a teacher of Practical Wing Chun in Shanghai, China. He is also a collumnist for Wing Chun Illustrated Magazine and a Wing Chun historian. I've known Sifu Kleber for several years, but this was the first time we got a chance to sit down and chat and I am so happy we did. I was surprised to learn that he had extensive martial arts training prior to Practical Wing Chun and that he instantly knew upon meeting Sifu Wan Kam Leung that this was the expression of Wing Chun that he wanted to learn. The thing that intrigued me the most, in our conversation, was when he said that Kung Fu in China is slowly dieing out. He found evidence of that while conducting his research on Wing Chun's history. I personally enjoyed very much listening to his story and feeling his enthusiasm for martial arts. • Episode 6 – Adam Chan On How To Make Wing Chun Even More Practical

    06/03/2017 Duración: 31min

This episode features Adam Chan from PragmaticMartialArts.com. You might know him from his YouTube videos where he shows a very down to earth approach to Wing Chun and self-defense. I found Adam's approach to be unique in the sense that he tests every concept before even talking about it. One of the key elements that I got from talking to Adam, was that each of us need to be honest with ourselves and decide why we are doing Wing Chun. If you are doing Wing Chun for fun or for the health benefits, that's great, as long as you are aware of that. And if you are doing Wing Chun for self-defense than it's a good idea to include defense against realistic non-cooperative attacks. I really enjoyed talking to him especially because I took inspiration from one of his videos when I wrote my first ebook on 'How to accelerate your Wing Chun and become a Machine', which you can download by going to the Free Tools Section in Addicted2WingChun.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

His intense expertise first gained worldwide exposure through his popular Wing Chun series on HowCast.com. Sifu Alex has been featured on VICE, The Discovery Channel, NBC, PBS, Black Belt Magazine, Kung Fu/Taichi Magazine, Wing Chun Illustrated, and Harper's Bazaar. He was kind enough to share how he took his school from a small group to having one of the most successful martial arts organisations in the world, some stories about when he used Wing Tsjun on the street while working as a doorman, but the story that touched me the most was the one about one of his students coming to class one day. I got a chance to ask Jim, from a historical point of view, about the accuracy of the story/lengend of Wing Chun being created by a woman. His answer brought new perspective to my understanding of Wing Chun. I enjoyed spending time and talking to Jim very much, learning about the specifities of Pin San Wing Chun, Dr. Leung Jan's Wing Chun, and the benefits of training and punching with an elongated body. The story, that I enjoyed most was hearing about how Jim hired a Private Detective to find the man who would become his Wing Chun Master. Let me know what you think about the interview and head to http://addicted2wingchun.com/free-tools/ for some awesome free tools which will accelerate your Wing Chun Progr

  • Episode 1 - Sifu Mark Phillips

    28/01/2017 Duración: 40min

Dr. Mark Phillips began his study of Wing Chun in 1986 under Master James Sinclair. Now after twenty seven years of professional teaching, he is ranked as one of the leading instructors in the UK Wing Chun Assoc and is a registered instructor with the prestigious ‘Ving Tsun Athletic Association’ in Hong Kong as so. I really enjoyied talking with Sifu Mark Phillips and listening to his point of view regarding Wing Chun. We talked about using Wing Chun in challenge fights, teaching, overcoming plateaus and how each of us can contribute to the Wing Chun community. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how humble and warm he is, despite the very effective self-defense videos you can find on his YouTube channel, Fight Sicence.
