Our decision to look at TAS came about due to forum posting: We look at the history of The Animated Series, how most of the actors from the original series were brought back, the quality of the show. This week Dave & Michael review the last four issues of the epic Star Trek / Doctor Who crossover series from IDW comics. We also look at new releases. Picard is adamant, refusing to open negotiations with the Borg. He’d like to see the Borg and the Cybermen destroy each other. Neither Guinan nor the Doctor can persuade him otherwise. Counselor Troi suggests to Amy that the Captain needs to hear from someone other than the Doctor. Amy invites Picard on a tour of the TARDIS and the future of the Federation, if the Cybermen aren’t stopped. When he returns, Picard is finally ready to speak with the Borg. This week as part of our ongoing interview series with those who have shaped Star Trek in comics we are pleased to welcome to the Holodeck Howard Weinstein. Howard Weinstein’s professional writing career launched at age 19 when he sold “The Pirates of Orion” script to NBC-TV’s Emmy-winning animated Star Trek series in 1974. Howard also has a thank you credit on Star Trek IV the Voyage Home. Over the four decades since his animated Star Trek episode, Howard’s varied credits include six Star Trek novels, three V novels, Star Trek anthology short stories and 65 Trek comics and graphic novels. During the interview Howard tells us how he became a writer, how he found Star Trek and of course what it was like writing Star Trek comics. Voyager follows a path of destruction through two star systems to find a weapon tearing apart an inhabited planet. Seven identifies the weapon as the work of Species 4672, which no longer exists. Janeway attacks the weapon to try and distract it from its destructive efforts. Emma & Laura have not read any Star Trek comics before so find out what they think of the story & comics in general. This month we have a very special interview about a very special project with friends of the show Keith R. A. DeCandido & J.K Woodward. Since 2004, Keith has been chronicling the adventures of Torin ban Wyvald, Danthres Tresyllione, and the rest of the Castle Guard as they try to maintain law and order in the port town of Cliff’s End, a city-state that is filled with humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, gnomes, and wizards.
