Peter Morse has the first cast this morning on the feral horse problem in the Snowy Mountains, backing up Steve Samuels, from the Monaro Acclimatisation Society, who says streams have been "irreparably" damaged.

"Botany Bay" Bernie, "Dog Fish" Dave and Simon Marnie have the first cast this morning live from Botany Bay aboard Bernie's old trawler the Santa Maria . Bernie and Dave catch them and Simon Cooks them in this exciting episode of The Big Fish.

First cast on The Big Fish is with Adam Martin from the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation. Adam is the national event coordinator for Gone Fishing Day. The event lured over 450,000 people online with virtual and real life fishing adventures.

Rob Paxevanos from Fishing Australia takes us fishing with Nick Kyrgios on Jervis Bay. They had a great time catching squid and experienced a real "Attenborough moment", off shore, with a massive school of krill turning the water red and attracting a feeding pod of whales. According to Rob the fishing was brilliant but for the first time in his life he didn't care. Rob was totally awestruck by the leviathans of the deep breaching, cavernous mouths agape, to feed on the tiny morsels.

Our first cast this episode of TBF is with Matt Hansen from the Central West chapter of OZfish Unlimited with great news on Burrendong and the Macquarie River. Unfortunately the biggest freshwater fishing gathering in NSW, the Burrendong Classic, has had to be postponed due to COVID-19. Monaro Acclimatisation Society spokesperson Steve Samuels joins us to talk about the feral horse problem in the Snowy Mountains where, he says, beautiful alpine streams at the top of Tantangara have been "trampled into oblivion and are gone forever". He believes something has to be done about the numbers of feral horses in the park or more native fish and trout habitat will be "irreparably" damaged.Stinker shares the story of the fisherman who drop kicked the frozen chicken and Andy Thomsen teaches us how to make fish crackling on The Big Fish.

This week Stinker takes us into the life of an amazing Greek fisherman who lived on a lonely windswept island off the NSW coast for 49 years.

This week we celebrate the opening of the Trout season in NSW and the social currency of fishing. The recreational pastime is set to bring millions of dollars into the Snowy Mountains region which is still trying to bounce back from the fires.

Greg French was stuck high up in the Andes of Peru, with a strict curfew, thanks to the covid flu! Greg and his life and fly fishing partner Frances were locked down in an Inca built village for over a month. On the upside, the local streams were full of hard fighting 3 to 7lb rainbow trout!
