Then and Now is a project with students in an introductory global history and culture course at the University of Minnesota. The podcast titles reflects the relationship between today's events with the history forces from the past. Topics in the podcast include a review of history topics, special music episodes connecting a country's culture with its artistic production through music, special interview episodes with voices of students and community members as they were part of historical events, and other topics. Every episode features some of the best independent music artists from a website that makes available podcast-approved songs. Industrial Revolution Overview, Part One
04/06/2021 Duración: 29minS14-E04 S14-E4 I feature the Industrial Revolution in Western Europe and dig deeper to make the connections with current event and the history forces that shaped and caused it. In part one, I first provide an overview of the unit. I recommend that you download the student PowerPoint slide handout to follow along. I connect the history forces that helped to cause the Industrial Revolution and the reasons that I focus on Western Europe and not other areas of the world. The next unit focuses on why England was the leader of the Industrial Revolution. In addition to this audio episode, I also provide several PDF documents: first, the essential PowerPoint slides for the students for this entire unit, and second, the assigned readings for this unit that provide the background information that is needed. Preview of Upcoming Global History Lectures

Each podcast episode will contain a module from the history unit that I am covering. Previously in this podcast series, the emphasis has been on history review or additional learning podcasts that the students and I created. Now, you can hear the lectures that the students based their podcasts for the previous thirteen seasons. In addition to this audio episode, I also provide several PDF documents. First, a syllabus or guide to the course that contains an outline of the history topics, assignments related to the course topics, resources for students to take advantage to support their student success, and generic rules and regulations related to the course.
