Two recent films came out that surprised us in very different ways. First up is Creed, the seventh installment in the Rocky franchise, and a film that did very little for us as far as the trailers were concerned. We discuss what makes it not just a great Rocky movie, but one of the best films of the year. Next is Alejandro González Iñárritu's new film The Revenant in which Leonardo DiCaprio may or may not be sexually assaulted by a bear (spoiler: he is not). With such high expectations, it's easy for a film to disappoint, but that disappointment rarely feels as painful as it does with The Revenant. We sink our teeth into the film's soft underbelly and rip it to pieces. The

Netflix has strategically (and successfully) changed the way we watch movies and television. Some people fully embrace this new frontier of couch potadom, while others oppose it with fiery passion as there's certainly not anything bigger to worry about. We discuss this phenomenon and what it means for the future of streaming entertainment. Then we take a trip back in time to 1950 with a discussion on Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard as part of our ongoing Billy Wilder Directors Series. As always, we leave you with some movie recommendations before we bury a chimpanzee in the back yard, serving as a metaphor for our dignity which has shuffled off this mortal coil. 2:31 - Streaming Entertainment Syndrome

Prove how much you love the Cut Print Film Podcast by donating to our Patreon! All patrons receive bonus podcasts, behind the scenes photos, and so much more.    James Bond is back in the new film Spectre! This time around 007 has a license to disappoint and we get to the bottom of why this new Bond film has left critics and audiences shaken rather than stirred, and so on (more terrible humor lies in this very episode). We also discuss two new films set in the 1950s that feature wonderful performances from their respective actresses: Brooklyn starring Saoirse Ronan and Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. While the films share the same time period, they remain tonal opposites in all regards and we compare and contrast them accordingly. Then we begin our new Director Series on the great Billy Wilder with an in depth discussion about his 1944 noir classic, Double Indemnity. Finally, we give you our movie (and TV) recommendations before we tie ourselves to the railroad tracks and cash in on the life i

    30/10/2015 Duración: 01h16min

Greetings Halloweenies! Welcome to part two of our 2015 Halloween extravaganza. In this episode we're giving you a double scoop of terror with discussions on two John Carpenter films! In the first half we thumb through his 1994 meta-horror cult classic In the Mouth of Madness and then we carve our way through his 1978 classic Halloween. These are solid puns and are indicative of the kind of quality discussions that lie within this episode. In the end, we send you off into the night with 3 spooky movie recommendations. Enjoy if you dare! 3:37 - In the Mouth of Madness 32:30 - Halloween 1:05:07 - Movie Recommendations

The spook-season is upon us and we're celebrating by playing a horror-centric version of the Amazon.com-A-Thon. Who will win? Who will lose? Who will be offered up as tribute to the dark lord? There's only one way to find out. Then, we punch our way through another episode of our John Carpenter Directors Series with a discussion on his 1988 sci-fi cult classic They Live. Is the film all its fans make it out to be or is it more cult than "classic"? Then Dave surprises everyone by recommending something that was already recommended 2 episodes prior, resulting in us forcing him to wear a scarlet "S" for "Show Prep." 3:41 - The Amazon.com-A-Thon Game 29:36 - They Live 1:06:21 - Movie Recommendations

Do you like this podcast? PROVE IT! Give us a 5 star review on iTunes and then head over to our Facebook page and give us a like! M. Night Shyamalan is back with his new film The Visit and for the first time in over a decade, critics and audiences are throwing praise his way! We discuss the director's new film and then ponder the (mostly) undeserved backlash he's received for most of the 21st century. A new listener letter points us toward our next director in the Directors Series, and then we wrap up our current Directors Series on Michael Haneke with a discussion about his 2012 film Amour. Were we amourous over Amour? There's only one way to find out: lie down on some railroad tracks. As always, we wrap things up with our movie (and TV) picks to help you fill the empty, wanting void that is life.   3:21 - The Visit 16:15 - Cut Print Film Mailbag 26:03 - Amour 59:43 - Movie Recommendations

We get ready for the long September, a month where moviegoers are more preoccupied with going back to college, attending PTA meetings and packing bologna sandwiches for their kids than they are actually going to the movies. Fortunately we have a great new indie release from director Noah Baumbach to bridge the gap between the blockbuster and prestige seasons. We discuss Mistress America starring Greta Gerwig and then daringly reach into the Cut Print Film Mailbag to read a very flattering letter. Moving ahead with our Michael Haneke Directors Series, we discuss his 2009 World War 2 cautionary tale The White Ribbon. Then we wrap things up with some great movie (and television) recommendations. Auf wiedersehen! 2:44 - Mistress America 14:01 - Cut Print Film Mailbag 23:42

  • CutPrintFilm: Episode 65 // Disney Pixar Sequels, Star Wars Rogue One, Cache

    17/08/2015 Duración: 01h12min

The big news out of D23 (The Walt Disney Company's expo designed to perpetuate fevered hype) is that there are a lot of animated sequels on the horizon for films you probably already love or tolerate or any have some kind of opinion of between those two extremes. Never hate though... no one is allowed to hate a Disney film, lest they be sent to the official Disney torture chamber, AKA the part of Epcot Center without all the international alcohol choices. Sequels! Do we want 'em? Do we hate 'em? We get to the bottom of things. Then it's time to press play on a brand spankin' new Directors Series as we fix our gaze on the films of Michael Haneke. First up is his 2005 psychological thriller Cache. As if you weren't overloaded with great audio content, we even recommend some new movies for you to check out before the show ends. What a podcast! 02:12 –  Cut Print Film Mailbag 22:20 - Cache 59:57 - Weekly Movie Recommendations
