It's the start of a bold new year and, by consensus if not reality, the start of a new decade. With the millennium's difficult teenage years now in the rear view mirror, we thought we would take a look at how the cinema landscape has changed over the last decade, and what that will mean for us in the coming years.

A little Christmas present for you as we recap some our our favourite and least favourite films of Space Year 2019. Best wishes to you all! We'll catch you all in the impossibly futuristic fantasy land of 2020.

We take a look at the poison of white nationalism in our latest good ol' fun time podcast, as we review American History X and Skin.

It's been used to start a story since the 1300s, so this podcast is centuries in the making, as we look at some of the many films telling us what happened "Once Upon a Time" in the West, America, China, Mexico, Anatolia, and Hollywood. Cynics have cynically suggested this is a pretty weak theme to join together a bunch of films we fancied watching, to which I reply "yes". But aren't they all? Welcome, everyone to Krzysztof Kieślowski Club. The first rule of Krzysztof Kieślowski Club is, of course, never spell club with a 'K', as it attracts entirely the wrong sort of clientele, and I'm not talking about Mortal Kombat fans. For me at least, the Polish director was very much part of baby's first attempt at cinephiling, as I approached the world cinema section in Fopp with a student loan burning its way through my back pocket. Those Three Colours DVDs were then lovingly put on a shelf, and I went off and watched Aliens again, or Violent Cop, or all the other nonsense I've subjected myself to. Twenty years and numerous shelves later, those DVDs remain unwatched, but that changes now. Well, technically it doesn't as couldn't be bothered finding the DVDs and just downloaded them, but that aside, we're looking at six of Kieślowski's films to see if he is all that and a bag of potato chips.
