We were lucky to have land speed record holders Erin Sills and Trev Richter of Hunter Sills Racing in the studio. Hunter Sills Racing captured five records with its BMW S 1000 RR at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah, during the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials event held Aug. 24–29, 2019. The team also earned Top Time of the Meet and Fastest Naturally Aspirated Motorcycle and increased the speed of their world’s fastest BMW motorcycle to 238.398 mph. They also share stories from some of their other records, including fastest 2 up speed, and fastest BMW GS. This week on our motorcycle podcast we share the story of a young man with no hope. He had been told that his Harley was done for, and he was completely heartbroken. But alas, in a last ditch effort of hope, he brought his bike to the Re-Cycle Garage to meet the wizard herself, Miss Emma. She looked the bike up and down, spun her magic wand and muttered the secret phrase "Potato-potato-potato". And voila! Suddenly the bike was running perfect. All traces of it's engine problems were gone. The boy rode off into the sunset and all was good again in the land of merry Misfits. The Misfits received an invitation from Honda to come down to their headquarters in S. Cali. So Emma and Liza headed down to LA for a weekend of fun. We got so many great interviews that we are going to split them up into their own mini episodes. This is the first of the series: Our first stop was to the Honda HQ in Torrance, Ca. We headed into the main building to meet Colin Miller, who had invited us down. Just the lobby was impressive, with motorcycles, lawn mowers, engines and accessories on display. But this was just the meeting point. Colin escorted us out of the building as we headed for the Honda museum. We drove a short distance to the museum, and walked into the lobby. These riders are extreme nutters, and Wendy is queen of all the bad asses. She rode 13,000 in just 11 days on her FJR1300. Well, we went to the MotoAmerica races, though we didn't actually watch any of the races.....But we test rode bikes, ran into lots of friends and had a ton of fun. We'll share our experiences on the test rides, which include the Yamaha Niken and a BMW S1000RR. Our guests this week were also there, but they were hanging with the cool kids in race leathers. Aliki from VnM Sport is here to talk about racing and under garments. And Shiree from Sheemotos is here to talk about racing (and punching Aliki in the uterus) but also she shares her story of overcoming a head injury and later using motorcycling to help women overcome PTSD much like she did. This week on our motorcycle podcast we start the show out with the bad news, and bring it back up all the way to the end. Sadly racer Carlen Dunne has crashed and died while setting a new record at Pikes Peak Hill Climb. This is a huge loss for the world. Also, one of our own was in a freak motorcycle accident, and we send our best wishes to his long recovery. Now lets take it back up. Oh wait, not quite done. Liza and Jim went on an epic ride and managed to kill 1 ground squirrel apiece. Condolences to the squirrels families as well. Okay, now we can take it back up.
