Zombpocalypse Now - Team Zombie Discusses Undead Things

In which Team Zombie cleanses their genre palate with the tasty treats of the first two episodes of the second season of SANTA CLARITA DIET, as they await the imminent return of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD in a mere two weeks. Two weeks also happens to be when ZOMBPOCALYPSE NOW will return, as both Mr. Harvey and Mr. Adair will be traveling next week - one in a western direction, the other in a southern - and they will sadly not be able to record until the following week and the return of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD. They recommend the wide selection of previous episodes of this very show should you need something to listen to while they are away.

In which we move ever closer to the end of Spike's THE MIST, focus in on What Went Wrong, and have nice things to say about a talented cast who deserved better.  

In which we watch ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, and enjoy the comedic fun of the latest film in the MCU, try very hard to keep our spoilers to an acceptable minimum, and lead with wisdom from the mouths of babes. 

In which we return to hate-watching SPIKE's THE MIST, because sometimes there is an odd entertainment value in watching something that gets so much so very wrong, but mostly because Dustin just likes subjecting Tim to terrible television. And THE MIST really is terrible television.

In which we return from our week off and step outside the horror genre and take a look at Marvel and Freeform's new superhero series, CLOAK & DAGGER, because we watch all kinds of things - well, Dustin watches all kinds of things... Tim watches the shows we review and WESTWORLD, because he's lame - and it saves us from hate-watching THE MIST, which is still terrible and still cancelled because it was terrible. 

In which we find FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's "No One's Gone" displays a love of slow-motion that fails to cover a multitude of sins hiding inside an otherwise excellent mid-season finale, and some deaths are simply too unbelievable to be real, unless they are, in which case we still don't believe them to be real, because c'mon, seriously? A programming note: We will not have a Zombpocalypse Now episode next week, as Mr. Adair will be on vacation, and Mr. Harvey just sounds silly talking to himself like some crazy person. We will return to our regular recording schedule the last week of June. 

In which we find that the two timelines of this season of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD are close to merging, some plans are not exactly well-considered, and the Lori Grimes School of Driving has an office in Texas.

With FEAR THE WALKING DEAD off for a few weeks, we return to the questionable joys of Hate-Watching SPIKE's THE MIST!It's poorly conceived, terribly executed, and strangely fun to watch in all its awfulness. 

In which We question Naomi's parenting skills, decide that some plans are truly terrible, and mourn the real-live loss of a dear friend...Folks, this is an unusual  episode. Just prior to recording, Dustin and I learned that a friend of ours had died, and the first 15 minutes are the two of us talking about our friend and sharing a few stories about him. If you find such things uncomfortable or aren't a fan of our digressions, it's perfectly OK to fast forward to the FEAR THE WALKING DEAD part. If, as we hope, you want to hear us talk about a good man who left the world too soon, well, we tell the stories we tell tonight because not only is shared pain lessened pain, but because celebrating those we lose is one of the best things we can do. 

In which we see that FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's "Laura" is very nearly a perfect episode, John Dorie is likely too good for this world, and the Power of Love warms even Dustin & Tim's cold and jaded hearts. A little.

In which everyone blames themselves for Nick's death, Tim fears that the Hard Reboot might be a passing fad, and Dustin swears revenge on Chuck Lorre.

In which we learn that blue bonnets are rather hardy flowers, children can't be trusted, and when FEAR THE WALKING DEAD reboots the show, it reboots HARD.

In which Team Zombie watches the second episode of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's fourth season, and finds that the promise of the first episode - and the "soft" reboot of the show - continues, in a mostly satisfactory way. Seriously, we actually liked it.

In which the soft reboot of AMC's FEAR THE WALKING DEAD seems rather more the extremely hard reboot, Morgan takes the lead, and the show is greatly improved by having almost no connection to the events of the last three seasons.

In which we discuss the Season 8 finale, ponder the morning after through the power of song, and that's only Part One!That's right kids, this week we have TWO Zombpocalypse Now episodes!
