Sinopsis

Ripping apart classic, modern and obscure horror films, reviewing one movie each week.

Episodios

  • Cujo

    07/08/2018 Duración: 59min

Based on a Stephen King novel, it departs from his book in a couple significant ways, which we discuss at length. Enjoy!

  • The Reef

    31/07/2018 Duración: 58min

Very reminiscent of 2003 survival horror film Open Water, The Reef gives us a few more characters and a slightly different situation. It's even also based on a true story.

  • I Know What You Did Last Summer

    27/07/2018 Duración: 01h54s

It's a star-studded cast in some breakthrough roles from writer Kevin Williamson, fresh off of the Scream franchise and Dawson's Creek TV show. It's just not as good as you may have remembered.

  • Humanoids From the Deep

    19/07/2018 Duración: 48min

Check out the blatant sexism of Humanoids from the Deep!

  • Jaws 3-D

    11/07/2018 Duración: 59min

As a goofy time capsule of your typical 80's film, it's a fun ride through an improbably plot and even more improbable special effects. Still, some great actors generally make the best of the hilariously bad material they are given, making for an experience that could have been much more boring than it turned out.

  • Sleepaway Camp

    03/07/2018 Duración: 01h08min

It's the middle of summer! Time for a month of summer-themed horror films from the 2 Guys Studios. Kicking it off this week is that staple of the rental store shelves, Sleepaway Camp. Most notorious for a "shocking" twist ending, this otherwise forgettable summer camp slasher is a sort of low-rent Friday the 13th. It's worth discussing, though, as we both discovered during this week's episode. Check it out!

  • Hell House LLC

    30/06/2018 Duración: 01h06min

For a good example of how filmmakers can do little with nothing, this low-key horror film seems to push all the right buttons to pull you in and keep ahold of you until the surprise ending. Give this week's episode a listen for all the details, but we highly recommend you watch the movie first.

  • As Above So Below

    19/06/2018 Duración: 54min

A team of people follow an ancient secret path through the catacombs of Paris to find the mythical philosopher's stone that turns base metals into gold. So much promise, but what a letdown.

  • The Suckling

    14/06/2018 Duración: 59min

This laughable attempt at a film at least falls into the "so bad it's good" category when it's not offending your sensibilities. And to think Todd first thought this was a faith-based film touting the dangers of abortion...

  • Veronica

    04/06/2018 Duración: 59min

Don't get us wrong - it's an extremely well-made film and we enjoyed it considerably. Listen to our discussion for the subtle nuances and a special tribute.

  • The Amityville Horror

    27/05/2018 Duración: 01h08s

We both remembered this as being fairly boring, and at least one of us hasn't revised that assessment. Regardless, it was a huge hit and a widely influential haunted house movie.

  • Train to Busan

    20/05/2018 Duración: 01h07min

This week's movie is a surprisingly good Korean zombie film, available to you on Netflix at the time of publishing. Listen to Craig gush over this zombie movie so heavy it's embarrassing.

  • Don't Look In The Basement

    03/05/2018 Duración: 54min

It's not fantastic, but we've seen worse and it has its charms.

  • Don't Go Into The Woods

    21/04/2018 Duración: 53min

The new gold standard against which all our "bad" horror movies are judged.

  • Don't Breathe

    10/04/2018 Duración: 55min

Produced by Sam Raimi, this wildly successful thriller combined suspense with some fairly brutal violence. Have a listen for our take on it.

  • Don't Look Now

    03/04/2018 Duración: 01h04min

We start with this classy, classic, stylish supernatural thriller starring Donald Sutherland. It may not be the most action-packed film we've reviewed, but there is a lot to unpack as a couple grieving for the loss of their daughter encounter a psychic with a warning for them from beyond the grave.

  • April Fool's Day (1986)

    27/03/2018 Duración: 01h39s

In celebration of April Fool's Day next week, here is another 80' slasher film starring none other than Biff from Back to the Future. Stick around for an important announcement from us at the end of the podcast.

  • Intruder (1989)

    20/03/2018 Duración: 52min

The Sam Raimi team of misfits gathers together in 1989 to add to the growing pile of middling 80's slasher films, this one surrounding the night crew in a supermarket that is too small for its own good. Sam and Ted Raimi, Martin Sheen's daughter, and even Bruce Campbell all make appearances, with effects by The Walking Dead goremeister Greg Nicotero.

  • Tokyo Gore Police

    17/03/2018 Duración: 01h23s

All you need to know is in the title. We follow the exploits of an "Engineer Hunter" in the madcap and bloody world of the future, where the Tokyo Police are privatized and brutal, hunting mutants who grow weapons from damaged body parts. It's as crazy as it sounds.

  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Part 2

    06/03/2018 Duración: 01h01min

We chose this film to finish up our month of notorious #2's because Hooper and Co. decided to go a completely different direction with a wacky, gory comedy, instead of the shocking straight horror style of the original (which did, truth be told, have its own darkly comedic moments).
