I think what Shannon Milliman, this episode’s guest, means by it is she had the perception as a child she was going to be this incredible force of power and would have a huge impact on the world and instead works a relatively normal job for a normal amount of time and goes home and lives a normal life. I know some of you probably read this as Joe himself was a zombie which is inaccurate, but for dramatic effect let’s just pretend that is the truth. That’s a pretty amazing feat, especially since most of the people I know can’t not even complete English sentences not too good. Sébastien Roger de Nuñez, or Seb for those of us languagely challenged, not only looks and sounds like he is totally going to take your girlfriend, he also learns different languages as a means to be able to teach improv to people that speak that language. Did you get that? He puts together complete improv shows and teaches people how to do improv in a ridiculous amount of languages. This makes him a much better improvisor than me, which is why this particular episode is so good! We talk about learning different languages, traveling, trying not to offend anyone on accident, making up songs, and, of course, improv! This week’s guest on the show is someone who has seen me, literally, at my worst. Eric Ackerson is someone I met in the mid-90s and we spent a great deal of time during these very formative years. Drinking formative years, so that meant that there was a lot of learning and then a lot of forgetting. We both worked at the same company (Fry’s Electronics), we both had the same sort of career trajectory, but Eric did it right and found himself as a vice-president at a cool consumer electronics company. Meanwhile, I don’t know if anyone at the company I work at even really knows my name. Eric dishes all the dirt on me, and then we record a sketch about dating. Man, there is a lot of dirt on me. Thilo is someone that I happened to meet on a social media app called Shapr, which is a version of Tinder that focuses on business connections and not hook-ups, although I think I’ve had more luck finding dates on Shapr. Thilo is a social coach that helps people get over anxieties by pushing their comfort to it’s furthest limits, like if you had a fear of approaching people, Thilo might have you go up to a table in a restaurant and ask for a bite of someone’s food. I first became exposed to this week’s guest, Sean McCabe, through his website [seanwes.com] one night while searching for something to keep me from just quitting this show. I needed a boost, and after searching around on the web, Sean’s website came up and I signed up immediately: it was encouraging and driving at the same time, and the guy on the camera, Sean, was so relaxed and personable I couldn’t help but be convinced that I could continue doing this show and maybe even be successful at it. My friend Kara Cooper joins the podcast. She is a photographer who does all sorts of really great pictures: wedding pictures, professional head shots, nudes. Lots of nudes.
