She attended the University of California at Santa Barbara, and afterwards did participant observation fieldwork in Italy, studying the world’s oldest voluntary collective farms. She received her Ph.D. in Anthropology, and worked as a lecturer teaching a wide variety of anthropology courses. She then went on to a career as a Museum Director at The Arkansas Museum of Science and History, The Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium on Long Island, and The Children’s Museum of Arkansas. Upon retirement from museum work, she taught at the University of Central Arkansas, and won two university research grants to revisit her Italian research in 2010 and 2012.
