Chloe sees trees as “bird umbrellas” and rain clouds as “just parts of the sky that like to laugh until they cry”. In her mind cars all smile and “everything looks prettier with eyelashes". Luckily, Chloe has a series of cameras to capture all of this imagination that she sees. Chloe’s photos both ask you to remain innovative and inspired, to infinity and beyond! http://ohchloe.com/ http://blog.itschloe.com/ www.theselby.com www.thecandidframe.com info@thecandidframe.com

John Perello (Jon One) was born in New York's Harlem neighborhood to parents from the Dominican Republic. Growing up in Harlem, his introduction to street art began at an early age, when he would see graffiti and tags on subway cars and city walls. When he was 17 he entered the world of graffiti with his childhood friend "White Man," tagging his name Jon with the numbers 156 on walls and trains in his neighborhood. He said, "The subway is a museum that runs through the city." In 1984, he founded the graffiti group 156 All Starz, in order to bring together their passion for painting trains at night and to help forget about their problems, including drug use. At this time, he met the artist Bando, who was living in New York. Following an invitation from Bando, JonOne moved to Paris in 1987. He began his work as a painter on canvas in a workshop at the Hospital Ephemeral, a literal hospital building that became a squatting place for artists, located in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. • The Candid Frame #196 - Sam (Whittier Sam) Smotherman

    22/07/2013 Duración: 51min

Sam (Whittier Sam) Smotherman is narrative street photographer from Los Angeles, who believes in the power of dialogue and that is what he tries to create through his images. Not just a dialogue between observers but within the whole process. He is not removed from his pictures, but chooses instead to speak where subjects often have no voice, making sure to give articulation to those who have not only shared their image, but their words. Photography helps him to define and connect him with the world and his surroundings in a way it does not when he is not shooting. It is not just about the seeing or feeling an image; he wants to be compelled to think. Conveying truth in his images is important and he looks for the beauty in the broken because that is often where the truth lies. Working to show the conditions of life on the margins, he wants all people to feel they can help make the human condition better by working for social justice and spiritual grace.  www.thecandidframe.com info@thecandidframe.com

  • The Candid Frame #189 - Walter Plotnick

    03/06/2013 Duración: 46min

Walter Plotnick is a photo-based artist who lives and works in the Philadelphia area. He received his MFA from University of the Arts and BFA from Tyler School of Art. My current work is a hybrid of wet photography and digital process. I am influenced by the work of Bauhaus, Constructivist and Surrealist Photographers from the 1920s through the 1930s. I make photographs and photograms by constructing temporary still lifes, using vintage found objects and images on top of photographic paper in the darkroom. By manipulating a variety of light sources, then digitally combining, repeating or adding images, I am able to visually explore an abstract environment with objects and light, creating movement, form and tension.  http://walterplotnick.com http://www.getty.edu/art/exhibitions/heartfield/ www.thecandidframe.com info@thecandidframe.com
