Pride Month!
14/06/2019 Duración: 21minJune is pride month, and I wanted to explore this time of inclusion, acceptance, and support by looking at some myths and historical characters that either identified as LGBTQ or were suggested as such before terms and titles were placed upon people based on their sexual orientation. With that said, I just wanted to throw my support out there to the community. While not being able to identify as a member of the LGBTQ group, I do very much respect those who do. Their courage and the struggles that have been overcome are nothing short of extraordinary. Love who you want, how you want.As for this cast in particular, I wanted to look into what myths and legends surround the LGBTQ ideology and lifestyle, and I was surprised at how far and deep it went; which is perhaps my own biases and predisposed notions coming out - not something I’m proud of. Nevertheless, that is why we read, learn, and research. I found out a whole slew of things I didn’t know about, such as the Native American Two-Spiritism, which is how th

The Irish Werewolf
07/06/2019 Duración: 22minIn this episode of the podcast, I talk about the Irish Werewolf. Werewolves have been a part of both popular culture and folklore for centuries, with writings dating back as early as 60 AD. Now, most of us are familiar with the generic, or general werewolf, but did you know that there are cultural variations to said creature? Well, there are – and today I’m looking at the werewolves of Ossory – or Ireland. The reason I’ve decided to look at this one in particular is due to the unique features and attributes of the creature.Werewolves are often depicted as snarling beasts turned from an ordinary man under the light of a full moon, but not the Irish werewolf, which has been depicted as more of a guardian or protector to lost travellers, the injured, and children. It’s whole transformation varies greatly from the tradition North American or European werewolf as well. The folklore surrounding this creature is pretty in depth, and I’ve found a few really great stories to share with you, including the couple and the

The Leshy
31/05/2019 Duración: 15minIn this episode of the podcast, I go over the Leshy! The Leshy? You maybe questioning. What the Hell is a Leshy? All great questions. Well, I’ll start with the fact that you probably haven’t heard of the Leshy before due to it being a Slavic entity, mostly around the Polish areas of Europe, and in short is a spirit that rules over the forest, and hunting. Now, forests are often associated with nymphs, faeries, and spirits, so it makes sense that the Slavic region has their own. His form changes from story to story, but there are some constants, such as often being depicted as masculine and humanoid. Despite that, he can assume any shape he wishes. Not just a spirit, but a family man, as Leshy is known to have a family with a wife and kids, but he’s not all good and is known to have some shady sides to him as well, but you’ll have to listen to get more details about that. The more I looked into the Leshy myth the more it reminded me a little bit of the Jotunn of the Nordic legends. Maybe not so much in back story

Stories of Thunderbird
24/05/2019 Duración: 15minNote: If you haven’t listened to last week's episode, I would recommend going back and doing so… I mean, of course I would, it’s my podcast! However, if you want a bit of context and information on the legend that is Thunderbird, it’s worth a listen. But onto this week's cast! While last week I went over just what Thunderbird is all about, this week I regale you some fascinating stories and accounts of this mythological creature, from battles with whales to turning people to stone. Thunderbird is really one of the more intriguing specimens I’ve ever looked into, and I hope you feel the same. Here’s just a small example of what Thunderbird has to offer: from its impressive wingspan to its ability to shapeshift into a human, Thunderbird has been said to have done many incredible feats, not limited to those listed. In fact, it’s been cited as the creator of life and enforcer or morality. But it’s the stories that are perhaps the most telling. Stories like the tale of Thunderbird and Mimlos-whale, wherein Thunder

The Thunderbird
17/05/2019 Duración: 18minIn this episode of the cast I take a detour away from the idea and origins of the curse and step back into the realm of mythological creatures. Today I look at the Thunderbird, and no, not the car. The Thunderbird has been, and will always be a staple in the Native American culture. Around since the earliest days of history, the Thunderbird has been worshiped and admired by tribes all throughout North America for its brilliance and power over the weather. Sometimes a protector, and other times an enforcer of morality, the Thunderbird is a prominent and imposing force within the Native culture. As always, I'd love to hear from you, and you can contact me at any of the places below. Resurrection
10/05/2019 Duración: 17minIn this special, and slightly different episode, I'm drawn to the idea of resurrection after the passing of my beloved cat, Shelby. Unfortunately she lost her battle with bone cancer, and so my wife and I decided it was only right to put an end to her suffering. She was a sweet, friendly, and lovable cat who lived a full life of 15 years. So, with that and the recent release of the Pet Sematary remake, I got caught up with the idea of bringing something back to life. I think it's only natural that we want to bring those we've lost back once they've passed, but is it always a good idea? I explore the theme and cultures associated with the idea, as well as give more personal opinion than usual. As always, I'd love to hear from you, and you can contact me at any of the places below. Also, don't forget to leave a review. Curses
03/05/2019 Duración: 18minIn this episode (that I mistakenly call season one! It's season three. Talking is hard) I look at curses and their effect on people dating all the way back to ancient Egypt, potentially before then even, all the way to people of today. The curse is something that everybody is familiar with, but its intricacies are far more nuanced than many might believe. From talismans to wards, to everything in between, this is the story of the curse.Feel free to visit me at any of the following:Website: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: HorrorshotsPatreon: www.patreon.com/horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Season 3 - Episode One! The Curse of The Poltergeist
26/04/2019 Duración: 13minIn this first episode of season three of the podcast, I go over what a poltergeist is, as well as the curse associated with the film, if it really is even a curse. No matter the truth, lives were lost, and the mystery surrounding the classic horror movie remains unsolved. Poltergeist came out in 1982 and as a creation of Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper, and with it came with the real life death of four cast members. The Phoenix
12/03/2019 Duración: 10minIn this episode, which is related to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, I discuss the ancient symbolic bird known as the Phoenix. This topic has always been a fascination for me as I really do like and admire birds - so I've always been drawn to them in any sense. The Phoenix is a truly magical and hopeful creature, with an equally enthralling story to match. Set
01/03/2019 Duración: 22minIn this episode I look at the villainous Egyptian God, Set. Set is a very interesting character, and therefore has a very interesting story. He has seen a few iterations of himself through different myths, and even influenced some characters from Christianity. This episode was inspired by 2017's The Mummy, which I reviewed on my brand new YouTube Channel, which I plan on updating weekly. Be sure to check that out at the link below.Of course, if you liked what you heard, leave a review and share the cast on social media!Information for this episode was found at Ancient History Encyclopedia. You can find/contact me at:Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8SJ1qhS2W4biA2qox4VawQWebsite: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: HorrorshotsPatreon: www.patreon.com/horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Fresh Kills Con - Jesse Markowski
22/02/2019 Duración: 24minIn this episode of the podcast, I was lucky enough to interview Jesse Markowski of Fresh Kills Con - which is a brand new horror convention takings place in the Niagara region this summer (July 13th weekend). He has a lot of interesting insight, and from everything I could gather, this is going to an amazing convention. Women in Horror Month - Kristen Zaza
08/02/2019 Duración: 48minIn this very special episode, I honor the Women in Horror Month with a look at a friend mine from the Horror Rama event earlier this year. Her name is Kristen Zaza, and you may have heard me talk about her in the past. She was kind enough to let me interview her, and talk about what she's all about. Her audio drama podcast, On a Dark, Cold Night just released it's 51st episode, and it's incredibly well done. Deathly Personifications: Hel
02/02/2019 Duración: 13minIn this episode of the podcast I continue my look into the various personifications of death; today we look at Hel, from the Norse Mythology. Hel, as her name suggests is also the ruler of the realm of the same name, and she's attributed to gathering a portion of the souls who've died, with the rest being distributed through other afterlife's. She's an interesting character, with quite a bit of a story behind her.Don't forget to leave a review if you like what I'm doing here, it helps a ton!You can find/contact me at:Website: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: HorrorshotsPatreon: www.patreon.com/horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Personifications of Death: The Celts
26/01/2019 Duración: 20minIn this episode of the podcast, I continue my look into how various cultures around the world personify death; today's look is at the Celtic region of Europe, which means Wales, Ireland, and Scotland. We look at everything from the Banshee, to the origins of the headless horseman. It was a very interesting looking into those specific beliefs, and how they had more than version of death depending on the country, and even area within said country. And of course, you can find me at the following places:Website: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: HorrorshotsPatreon: www.patreon.com/horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Deathly Personifications: Thanatos
19/01/2019 Duración: 19minIn this episode of the podcast, I look at certain death as it is personified. In the first of a many part series on the topic, which will feature many cultures from various regions around the world, I look at the Greek God, Thanatos. He's the god of Death (not to be confused with Hades), and he's more so a benevolent being than not.The sources I used can be found in the links below:Greek Gods & Goddesses, June 10, 2018Thanatos: GreekMythology.com - Jan 14, 2019And of course, you can find me at the following places:Website: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: HorrorshotsPatreon: www.patreon.com/horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The History of Demons: Samael
12/01/2019 Duración: 13minIn this return episode of the podcast (after a way too long hiatus), I look at the history of yet another demon... or is he an angel? Welcome to the complicated world of Samael. Some call him the angel of death, other God's left hand. Some depict him as an evil entity involved with Lilith, others far less evil. It was super interesting reading up on him, so thanks to David from Instagram for the idea. Also, I get around to checking some recent reviews, which I read on the show. So thank you so much for all the reviews - thankfully they've all been good! As always, leaving a review helps the little guy like me get noticed, so if you'd like to help out, that's the best way to do it. :)You can find me in the following places:Website: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: HorrorshotsPatreon: www.patreon.com/horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Life Imitating Art: The Slender Man Stabbings
14/12/2018 Duración: 20minIn this episode of the Horror Shots Podcast, I look more into life imitating art, and this time it has to do with everybody's favorite internet monster - and it's not overly attached girlfriend. No, today we're talking about Slender Man, and his influence on society - notably two pre-teenage girls. Most everybody is familiar with the Slender Man mythos, however and despite, the numerous films, media coverage, and documentaries, not everybody is aware of what occurred in Wisconsin on May 31st, 2014.Of course, if you want to contact me elsewhere, you most certainly can through any of the places below.Website: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: Horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Life Imitating Art: The Necronomicon
07/12/2018 Duración: 18minIn this episode of the podcast I look at how life has a tendency to imitate art. From people worshiping things that are pure creations of a brilliant mind to... well just things they read on the internet. Today's look is at the Necronomicon, a creation of H.P. Lovecraft. We all know Lovecraft was a genius, and especially in his time. His worlds are unparalleled, and his Old Gods are next to none, so it's no wonder people thought his creations were real. It's such a fascinating topic, and I'm glad an Instagramer suggested it to me.Oh, and if you like what you heard, please do drop a review and rating on iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever you listen. Though iTunes is probably the most wide reaching. Thanks in advance!Of course, if you want to contact me elsewhere, you most certainly can through any of the places below.Website: www.horrorshots.comInstagram: horrorshotsphotographyTwitter: @horrorshotspodFacebook: Horrorshots See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The History of Demons: Satan!
01/12/2018 Duración: 24minIn this podcast I revisit my series on the History of Demons, with information provided by Michelle Belanger's Dictionary of Demons. This is a fascinating look at the name Satan, and how it's been changed and invoked over the past several thousand years. There are somethings in the cast that may be a bit new to you, so listen with an open mind. The History of Demons series is something I really enjoy doing in between the more in depth casts, so I hope you feel the same. As always, feel free to leave a review or a rating on your favorite podcasting site. If you'd like to catch up wit me on social media or my website, check the links below.
