It's been called the Storm of the Century, Murder at Matecombe, and Hemingway's Hurricane, but most just refer to it as the Labor Day Hurricane. On September 2, 1935, one of the worst hurricanes in Florida hit the Keys. Workers, looking to improve the conditions of the Overseas Railway were ill prepared and ill defended for the storm as it hit, resulting in close to 500 deaths in a single day. What followed was a Perfect Storm of its own, perfectly setting the backdrop for the unexplained happenings for the next 85 years. It was another odd example of #followthesigns, but as I was working on material for Haunted Ocala and Boogeyman: The Murders and Myth of Gerard John Schaefer, I realized Episode 18 of Tripping on Legends: Whispers and Screams from Shiloh, was missing.
