During the night of 1-2 February 1959, 9 experienced Soviet hikers cut themselves out of their tent, seemingly in a panic, and headed out into the sub-zero night underprepared, poorly dressed, some without boots on. Yoo Young-chul or the ‘Raincoat Killer’ was South Korea’s most prolific serial killer responsible for the deaths of up to 26 people in the space of less than a year! Yoo showed great disdain for the wealthy, women and in particular sex workers, so he chose to target those groups in his brutal murders. Today we discussed Galaxies. The immense size of these structures is breath taking. Containing hundreds of billions, if not trillions of stars and bound together with dark matter, galaxies hang in space on galactic filaments which make up the structures of the universe. How do they form ? how do they die ? why do all galaxies contain supermassive black holes at their core ? We have no idea but it’s fun to talk about.
