  • Ep. 470 - Wolcott Heritage Center

    19/01/2023 Duración: 30min

The centerpiece of the Wolcott Heritage Center is the Hull-Wolcott House, which was built in 1830 in Maumee, Ohio. This mansion is a great reflection of the pioneer family who built it and remained in that family for several generations before giving it to the Maumee Historical Society. Over the years, the society added seven other buildings to the center that all represent the early life of this historic city.  The Wolcott family is intertwined with not only Maumee's history, but they represent a coming together of the Native American culture with early American pioneers. Mrs. Wolcott was the granddaughter of a Miami chief. Many people believe that several members of the Wolcott family might still be hanging around the property. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of the Wolcott Heritage Center. The Moment in Oddity features Frisky Fishies and This Month in History features the Curtiss Model E Flying Boat. • Ep. 469 - Western Lunatic Asylum of Virginia

    12/01/2023 Duración: 37min

Imagine a luxury hotel in an old insane asylum. That is precisely what has happened with the Western Lunatic Asylum or as it was later known, the Western State Hospital. The main administration building is now the Blackburn Inn and Conference Center. This is a good setting for the hotel as this was an asylum meant to be a beautiful, tranquil and moral place for treatment of the mentally ill. This was Virginia's early attempt to provide enlightened care to suffering people. Later this was a medium security prison. Today, it stands as a possibly haunted hotel and complex of condominiums. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of the Western State Hospital. The Moment in Oddity features Cirque du Sewer and This Month in History features the birth of Dolly Parton. Our location was suggested by Cara Danelle. • Phantasmal Crime 10 - The Murder of the Grimes Sisters

    10/01/2023 Duración: 14min

German Church Road in Chicago is haunted. At least, that's what urban legends claim. The possibility of apparitions being seen along this road is supported by the fact that a murder is connected to this road. Not just one murder, but two. And the victims were sisters. The Grimes sisters. Two all American teenagers were out for a little fun and their lives ended abruptly, shattering not only their innocence, but the innocence of the people that knew them or lived near them. The lack of justice has perhaps left their spirits at unrest. • Ep. 468 - River Raisin Battlefield

    05/01/2023 Duración: 35min

The Battle of Frenchtown took place during the War of 1812 and its battlefield is the only nationally recognized American battlefield dating to the War of 1812. The greatest victory of the war for Tecumseh's confederation took place here. What happened after the Battle of Frenchtown, amounted to a massacre. In the aftermath, Native Americans were removed from the Northwest Territory. This would be the beginning of decades of Indian Removal. The battlefield is thought to be one of the most haunted locations in Michigan, more than likely because of all this negative spiritual residue. Join us as we explore the battles and hauntings connected to River Raisin National Battlefield Park! The Moment in Oddity features New Year's Eve in Talca, Chile and This Month in History features the opening of Ellis Island Opens. Our location was suggested by Tre Doyle. • Ep. 466 - Legendary Roads

    22/12/2022 Duración: 49min

We all know that certain road. The one that everyone claims no one should drive along at night. There are rumors of haunted houses, witches, zombies, cannibals and cryptids along these roads. And it seems that every state has one or more of them. Most of these lanes are cloaked in darkness and twist and turn dangerously. Many aren't paved. Roads just seem to attract spirits. Is it because of the accidents or the locations dotting the road side? It's most likely a combination of the two. On this episode, we are going to feature some legendary roads. The Moment in Oddity features Sultan Kosen and This Month in History features the premiere of Gone With the Wind. Our topic was suggested by Emilee Duke. 08/11/2022 Duración: 21min

Nature is supposed to be a place of peace. But sometimes this can also be a place of danger. Remote natural places are favorite dumping grounds for murderers. The recent murder of Gabby Petito is proof of that. Natural places make easier hunting grounds. A mountain resort or lodge like the Keddie Resort could easily be one of these places. It did indeed become one in 1981. And the horrific murders that happened here remain unsolved today.
