Outdated References

Abhi joined us because I needed his wifi as my hotel lacked a proper connection. (Joys of staying at a 16th Century Hotel in Hook, Hampshire.) I recorded this early last month when I just landed to the UK. I was tired and we just B.S.'ed about the usual differences between the US and UK. Seriously, I know Americans pronounces Adidas incorrectly, but hearing the "correctly" made my brain fizzle for a bit.  Sadly, this was the only show I was able to record when I was in the UK. Next time, I need to buy some mobile gear for podcasting on the road. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this show.  Cheers, Nathan

This week we briefly chat about guns, and politics (sorry) then to our usual talk about video games! Esteban gave us the EVO 2017 update and I chat about learning and ranting about Street Fighter V. The big news is that my work is sending me to the U.K. for business and I’m excited for a change of scenery, of course, I’m petrified about driving on the left. Anyways, I also talk about my first time at Universal Studios. Ah, I felt like I did most of the talking this episode.  --Nathan

Welcome to this week’s Plant-Talk! Just kidding, but Adam is experimenting with this green thumb and trying to grow some mangos. We eventually move onto some “Orange is the New Black” Spoilers talk before shifting gears to some DC TV talk then everyone is pushing “Legion” really hard. Christ, they’re just too many interesting TV shows for me to keep up. -Nathan  

This week Esteban fills in Russ and Nathan with his perspective of E3, Russ talks about World of Warcraft and Nathan goes on and on about retro games. It starts getting more impassioned when the conversation moves in the direction of television and Nathan hatred of a certain Japanese film director. You know, the usual for the OutdateRef cast.  

  This week, Russ, Adam and I briefly talk about the passing of Adam West before going into our memories of murdered Optimus Prime, and why Street Fighter V still doesn’t have an Arcade Mode. I talk about dabbling with 8-bit computers and old school racism in general. You will learn the one racist slur that actually irritates Adam. Yeah, this episode is a totally not safe for work. I also had my 20-ish High School Reunion from the Las Vegas Academy, restoring my Commodore 128, and rediscovering how slow and weak our old computers really were. Eventually we discuss the current state of sports coming to Las Vegas. We bounced around all topics this week.

After dumping almost 6 months or backlogs, I present to you this week’s episode where we talk about Estaban’s Japan trip covering the earlier in May where we talk about fighting games (obviously) mayo pizzas, neon lights, and he’s newest video Now for us normies, we talk about Persona 5, Mass Effect Andromeda, and the sci-fi troupe of universal translator working with no hitch in a new galaxy… Yeah right. We recorded this episode on back on Inauguration Day and us trying to cope with our new reality. After we got over our petty fit, we talked about everything under the sun and into a Star Wars Rebels and Rouge One spoiler-cast.  --Nathan

This week it’s Russ and me chatting about TV, the joys and pains of trying to get family to watch your favorite shows and what I love about Babylon 5. Basically it's me and Russ shooting the shit about whatever popped into our heads this week. Oh yeah, the election results didn't go our way. Drats. --Nathan

This week we are chatting with Russ, Jeremy and me (Nathan!) You get to hear Russell not understand what “diversify“ means and we argue about the minutia about what makes Skyrim NOT an MMO, besides, you know, being massive yet not being multiplayer nor online… whatever. Then somehow we end up with some comic talk where we ended up ripping on Rob Leifeld for way too long because that’s the most outdated reference. --Nathan

This week you can here me chat about falling into the retro hi-fi hobby hard was everyone else just points, laugh, and everyone calling me a hipster. (sigh) At least we talk about Russ’ film trailers. Also, you get to listen to an excited Indians fans with the hopes and dreams of a World Series Wins. We are back!  After failing to record and entertaining show with just Russ and myself, I felt we needed the third chair to make an entertaining show so this week Adam was about to join us tlaking like grumpy old men who love retro video games, not caring about what you do to your own consoles, and fall tv talk! Woot!It feels great to be back! --Nathan

This week we have Jeremy back for the 7th episode of Outdated References  Podcast. We chat about gaming together with friends, games we played and 50th Anniversary of Star Trek. Yeah, it's a big geek fest with retro video games and anime.  --Nathan Bias  

This week Adam, Russ, Esteban and I talked a little about the 25th anniversary of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System then little about the Nintendo NX speculations and concerns. Eventually we get on a long discussion on why Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a GEM of a fighter for the Nintendo Wii and what we would love to see if there was ever a sequel. There’s a quick review of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Neo-Geo, King of Fighters talk and preferences in arcade push buttons. Also we discuss game genre specific terminology and how off putting that can be for new players. Basically, we just chatted about old 2D fighters till the end of the show.  --Nathan Bias

Esteban breaks down why the new Doom game for the PS4 is the best first person shooter in the last 5 years and he explains his new Konami approved work out.   Adam shares his spoils from the Game On Expo in Mesa, AZ then fun time happy story about his wife breaking down 3 hours outside Phoenix and 2 Hours outside Las Vegas. I ramble on about my upcoming joystick project, starting with purchasing my joystick case from . Adam shares his opinions about his favorite “hidden Batman gem” on the SNES, then we complain about the direction or our hobby. (Plus obligatory SNK Neo-Geo Love.) Eventually it will all come down to our spoiler filled talk about “Star Trek Beyond.” --Nathan   Bonus Track: “A Song for People Who Never Watched Star Trek” by Warp11

This week we have a 2 man team with only Russ and myself but we were able to knock out another show as we jumped right into the main topic of the week: "Ghostbusters: Answer the Call" spoilercast. Did the 2016 Ghostbusters live up to the hype or will this be just another bad addition to the franchise? Does Nathan repeatedly bring up Xtreme Ghostbusters, just because? You bet I did. We go over the basic plot and what we loved and hated about the newest addition to the Ghostbuster franchise and a little past the half way point, we go on about what we've been playing, like Russ' monkey business and Nate's sad obsession with old. gaming hardware. --Nathan
