Episode 53: Leave Them Curious
13/08/2018 Duración: 13minAudiences crave more and more acts that are odd, strange, or off-the-wall. Don’t get stuck on NORMAL setting. As a performer, sometimes you will need to change things up. Throw a curveball to your audience and give them something abnormal and off-center. Strive to be weird. Nowadays the more strange and an act, the more different a performance is, the more attention it gathers. The reason? Curiosity. The Audience will naturally be curious as to how you came up with the idea, why you are doing it, and undoubtedly they will be back to see more of this strange new style you have shown them. It is not about lavish props or extensive sets. It's about taking time to make something, creating something that is not normally seen then letting people see it. Episode 52: Silence
06/08/2018 Duración: 11minPerformers usually bring the energy to the audience, we bring life to the stage. But silence can be a powerful strategy to connect with the audience. When used properly a performer will create a moment of anticipation through silence and stillness. This anticipating brings the audience into the show, it makes it matter to them. When you choose the right moment in your show, the audience will be captured by your talent. When the audience is captured and invested in the performance they will crave more. That’s is when you get fans. Choose a moment and a position that will show emotion, connection and passion. Episode 51: Stop Chasing Perfection
03/08/2018 Duración: 11minWhy do we always believe we must be perfect on stage? Our Audience does not seek perfection, they seek connection! So often performers are judging themselves more harsh than needed, sometimes preventing them from getting on stage in the first place. This is a head game, nothing more. You are in your own head creating this belief. The performance is a representation of the artist, the performer. Our performance cannot be perfect, it has to have flaws and imperfections because we have flaws and imperfections. Thats what helps us connect with other people. Instead of seeking perfection, create connections, create emotions that will stay with your audience long after you are off stage. Episode 49: My First Dave Matthews Band Experience
30/07/2018 Duración: 11minA Dave Matthews concert is a one of a kind experience that every performer could learn from. This is my story of the first time I saw Dave Matthews Band in concert. There is no doubt that Dave Matthews Band is one of the most talented live performers of all time. Based solely on the following, we can see there is something to love about being at a concert. There was an energy in the air that brings you in and makes you feel connected. That is a powerful feeling to have. It is evident the love and passion this band has for their audience and there music. The reason for this feeling, this success? Simple. They have fun while being authentic to who they are while on stage, they share a passion for the art that is shared with the audience. While Dave Matthews has absolutely perfected this level of authenticity, any performer can create that feeling just by having fun, doing what they love. 23/07/2018 Duración: 11minMoments become magical no stage because of great timing and use of rhythm. Moments and movements that are timed and syncopated to the underlying rhythm is what creates showstopping moments for your crowd. Learn the basics of keeping time by simply walking, running, swimming, any repetitive movement. Form there you will be able to keep very good time while on stage. Episode 45: How to Rehearse Effectively
22/07/2018 Duración: 12minDo you really need to rehearse? You have done this dozens of times. It's not like you have the time to put in for this show. Let’s just wing it this time. Horse-Crap! You MUST make time to rehearse. Sometimes it's not easy, you have a job and kids and you only have 3 days until the show. I get it. We all have busy schedules but if we are going to be successful performers we have to rehearse regardless of how often we perform or how much time we have, rehearsal is a necessary priority for a performer. You can run your rehearsal more efficiently in order to make it more effective. Instead of spending hours going over every small detail, focus on the performance as a whole. Take a littel time for have a mental rehearsal so you have a plan. Then go through the motions you envisioned, take it slow and make sure the movement feels natural and doable. Last, have 3-4 Full-out run-throughs. I mean don’t hold back, pick that energy up and do it like you are on stage - exactly as if you would perform. REMEMBER - registe

Episode 44: Expectations Kill Dreams
19/07/2018 Duración: 09minA performer cannot function when they have expectations. We need Freedom! How can you get rid of the expectations? Try a little Hope. Yes, You can hope for a great show, you can hope the audience likes you, you can hope you nail the hard part. Expectations add too much pressure and stress for a performer. If we fail to meet those expectations we see depression and disappointment which will hold us back from moving forward. We need the freedom that Hope allows so we can give up on perfection and focus on the art. Episode 43: You SHOULD Be Nervous!
18/07/2018 Duración: 11minThe butterflies in the stomach...The sweaty palms...The tightness in your throat...The weakness you feel...It's all part of being nervous before you go on stage. This is exactly how you should feel before a performance. The nervousness you feel before the show is 100% normal. As a matter of fact, this is exactly how you are supposed to feel. If you were not nervous it would mean that you no longer care. Everyone gets the same feelings but it's all in how you deal with it. You have the opportunity to change those feeling into excitement. Being nervous does not mean you lack talent and it is not a sign that you should give up and go home. It is a chance. It is a chance to switch from FLIGHT to FIGHT and go out there and perform your ass off! Episode 42: Do What You Have to Do
13/07/2018 Duración: 13minStop turning away opportunities that don’t “fit” with your vision. Sometimes you hae to do things you don’t want to do in order to have the opportunity to do the things you want to do. We live in a world full of judgement but we should not allow the judgement to affect our path. There will be times when an opportunity is presented and you are very unsure of taking it. Maybe it doesn’t line up with what you envisioned for yourself. If you get to perform in a new way it is a true opportunity for learning and growth. Most of the time doing things we have to do will lead us to new discoveries about our talents and will help us find new things to be passionate about. Don’t let judgement of Desk-dwellers stop you from moving forward. On the same note - don’t be the person judging other performers for find a new and different way to use their talents. Don’t make someone feel bad for doing something that they have to do to get by. REMEMBER - register to receive your free copy of my e-book - Confidence On Stage: Navig

Episode 41: The Circle of Performing
11/07/2018 Duración: 09minYour success as a performer is entirely up to the audience. You have to engage with them and give them a memorable performance if they are going to like, follow, subscribe, and eventually come back. That’s The Circle of Performing. You engage them during your performance, they react by following, subscribing, or purchasing, and you create more to engage them. Sounds simple right? It is. And the best part about how simple this is - you can do it with small actions on stage. Grab a hand, high five, dance with someone, make eye contact, speak directly to them. These small action create massive reaction in your audience. They will crave more, they will crave to be a part of your success on stage. Episode 40: A Small Crowd is a Mighty Crowd
08/07/2018 Duración: 16minToo Often performers obsess over the size of the crowd. Before they even set foot on stage we are concerned that not enough people showed up. Our whole career comes to grinding halt because only 15 people are here to see us perform. What is wrong with that? It's completely absurd to believe that a small crowd does not deserve a big performance. They came, isn’t that what counts. We spend so much effort wondering why or who’s fault it is instead of preparing to perform the show of our lives. We keep count of the people that aren’t there instead of focusing on the few that are. Do they not deserve a phenomenal show? After all they showed up when no one else did. If anything they should be treated better than a larger crowd. We should stay focused on giving our best performance even when the crowd is small. You really never know who is in that crowd. So what do you do? How can you be at your best every time? Daily Action! You have to do something everyday to work toward greatness. You have the talent and the skill, but you also need to have the drive. The drive to push yourself, the drive to prioritize rehearsal over video games, the drive to make progress daily. Episode 38: My Discovery
02/07/2018 Duración: 10minThe day I discovered my performance style is a day I will never forget. I met an entertainer that was absolutely incredible and immediately became infatuated with learning more. The problem - I was completely shut-down by my would-be mentor. Instead of welcoming me and encouraging me, I got an autograph and embarrassment instead. This fueled me to find my own way. Before youtube and before everything was easily search online, we had to talk to people and make our own discoveries. I pooled my resources and worked with my close friends to develop myself and become the entertainer I am today. It was a long road but worth it. The moral of my story - keep pushing for your dreams or no one else will. REMEMBER - register to receive your free copy of my e-book - Confidence On Stage: Navigating the 3 Levels of Stage Fright. Episode 37: EXTRA Ordinary
24/06/2018 Duración: 09min“If Art is made by ordinary people, then you’d have to allow that the ideal artist would have to be an ordinary person too, with the whole usual mixed bag of traits that real human beings possess.” [Art & Fear - The Perils (and rewards) or Artmaking][1] By David Bayles What does it mean to be an artist? Before you go look it up or google it - think - what does it really mean to be an artist? We are humans that live complicated lives, suffer pain, fall in love, make mistakes...Just like every other human being. We are all artists, what sets us apart, what makes our art shine is the work we put into our craft. Taking the time to build on our talents and develop our skills. But first, just be human, just be ordinary. REMEMBER - register to receive your free copy of my e-book - Confidence On Stage: Navigating the 3 Levels of Stage Fright.
