This week's episode of YKY is testosterone fueled as we discuss our favorite 1980's Action Movies. This is a round robin episode so we each get to bring in one pick. It always leads to a wider discussion about the genre. This one went long due to the amount of great 80's Action Films. Let us know your favorite in the comment section. On this week's episode of YKY we look back at the box office flop, but cult hit, 1984's Streets of Fire, A Rock n roll fable. Directed by Walter Hill (So yes there will be fog) and starring Michael Paré, a 19 year old Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan and a very young looking Willem Dafoe. This was a strange blend of genres that also has a fantastic soundtrack. If you like your action dark, foggy, with killer musical numbers you may just love this movie. Ah...the 80's.

Tonight on YKY we discuss Drew's pick, 2019's Ready or Not and yes, it is SPOILER filled. Starring Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell on a funny and tense story. Not much backstory but plenty of craziness. Check it out if you like bloody and funny. Whatever you do, pick the right card.

On the latest episode of YKY we discuss the film They Call Me Trinity. An Italian western that spoofs Eastwood's The Man with No Name Trilogy. It stars Terence Hill and Bud Spencer who became international superstars after this film was released. It's a very "charming" and a bit "goofy" western. People liked it so much they even made two sequels and a kind of sequel They Call Me Nobody co-starring Henry Fonda. Both movies are worth watching. We even discussed Nobody on Cue it Up so I'll leave that link below.

After last week's disturbing pick, The Vanishing, John has decided to go in a completely different direction with this week's choice. He has chosen the comedy classic, Airplane! Released in 1980 and written & directed by ZAZ (Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker). It's the joke a minute movie that took spoofs (Like Mel Brooks) and brought them to another level. Don't blink or you may miss a joke. It starred actors like Leslie Neilsen, Peter Graves. Lloyd Bridges and Robert Stack who were known for serious roles. Their deadpan delivery is what makes it so funny. All the iconic lines are there: "Don't call me Shirley", "Looks like I picked a bad week to stop...", Excuse me stewardess, I speak Jive". Still holds up and we had fun talking about it.

YKY goes back in time to the 1950 classic Born Yesterday. Directed by George Cukor and starring Broderick Crawford, straight from the Broadway version, William Holden and in her Oscar winning performance as Billie Dawn, Judy Holiday (Role she created on stage). It's an old Hollywood style movie featuring the "dumb blonde" who is smarter than even she thinks, the gruff boyfriend and....William Holden. It all turns right in the end but there are some bumpy, and even scary moments till the conclusion. Let us know what you think in the comment section. No double negatives!.

This latest episode of YKY is of Biblical proportions. We discus films based on stories from the Bible that were also of Epic scale. If you watch our show you know there are opinions of religion that are all over the place. You can bet that will impact some of the choices. I think you will enjoy the discussion. On the latest episode of YKY the gang discusses the significance, if there is any, of the Oscars. As the ratings plummet and the nominees for best picture are far from "big box office". With the advent of streaming and social media does anyone get excited any more of seeing "stars". We also focus on one film, a recommendation of Drew, the Power of the Dog. Interesting conversation. The Oscar goes to...our viewers.

It's 2022 and the world is dystopian with food shortages and over population. That's the premise of the 1973's Sc--fi classic, Soylent Green. Starring Charlton Heston and in his last performance, Edward G Robison. How accurate is the depiction of 2022? Does the message hold up? Do we find out what Soylent Green is made of? Does Ralph really get into character on this one? Does Uncle All ever take the virtual mask off? Watch and find out that "SOYLENT GREEN IS......."

Tonight's YKY episode is a feel good film, 1993's Cool Runnings. The true story of the Jamaican Bobsled team that competed in the 88 Calgary Winter Olympics. It stars John Candy (In his last film before he died 6 months later), and as the Bobsled team, Leon, Doug E. Doug, Rawie Lewis and Malik Yoba. At the time this was Disney's highest grossing live action film and while not high art, a fun movie that will make you smile. Did everyone feel that way? Watch and find out. After an amazing weekend of Playoff football, the YKY gang discusses the 1999 Football Film Any Given Sunday. Directed by Oliver Stone and starring, Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Dennis Quaid, Cameron Diaz and former NFL greats. Joining us in the discussion is retired Kansas City Chief's Defensive End Eric Hicks. Eric picked the film as a pretty good representation of life in the NFL and offers unique insight of playing the game. Of course, the conversation veered to other topics and other football films. If you are a fan of the sport, you will love this conversation. GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!

This week's movie is the 1957 Elia Kazan film, A Face in the Crowd. It starred Andy Griffith in a tour de force performance, unlike his Andy Taylor or Matlock image and his first movie role. Also starring Patricia Neal, Walter Matthau and also making their film debuts Lee Remick and Anthony Franciosa This film about the power of television, advertising used to manipulate the people and absolute power corrupting absolutely. The amazing thing about this film is how it predicted what we see today with Social Media influencers and celebrities and their power to impact everything we buy, watch, listen to and who we vote for. Best of all there are amazing performances and a great script. Love to talk about this film.

In the first episode of 2022 we discuss Chri's pick of the early 70's film, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, It stars Clint Eastwood and an early Oscar nominated performance by Jeff Bridges. It was the directorial debut of Michael Cimino of Deer Hunter and Heavan's Gate fame. Was it a buddy film, a road trip movie, a modern western or a heist film? Trying to decide that made for a very interesting conversation. Great way to start the new year. Enjoy.

I can honestly say that the latest episode of YKY is the "Cagiest" ever. Tonight’s Round Robin features the movies of Nic Cage. With so many iconic films in a long career to choose from, it will be interesting to see what each of the gang comes up with. We even created a special “Cage Meter” just for this special occasion. (Cage Meter: Normal performance - Crazy wide-eyed Cage) What was most interesting in picking a Cage movie is how big his movie catalog actually is. Plenty to choose from and some very Cagey moments. A very special episode of YKY. Tonight we discuss the controversial chapter in the Friday the 13th series, 1985's Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. The reason why it's special is we have John Shepherd who starred as Tommy, the lead in the film. We discuss the making of the film and his journey as an actor, writer and film producer. Tonight's episode we discuss Ralph's choice of the 1981 Thief. Starring James Caan, Tuesday Weld and in their film debuts Jim Belushi and Robert Prosky. It was directed by Michael Mann and was one of his early films where you can see the beginning of the "Mann style". Is it a heist film, a character study or a revenge thriller? Watch and find out what the gang thinks.

On the latest episode of YKY we discuss John's choice, 1973's The Sting directed by George Roy Hill and starring Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Robert Shaw. This is a classic and much beloved film that John described as one of a few "perfect" movies. Great script, cast and twists and turns in every direction. The whole film is a con and the audience has a ball trying to keep up. Does the gang agree? You never know.

Tonight's episode goes a bit high brow, with Sean's pick. We discuss 1989's Wings of Desire, a German film written and directed by Win Wenders and starring Bruno Ganz and Peter Falk. This film has been called "The most emotionally and spiritually moving film of all time". Do the YKY gang agree? How much does the new guy Chris love this film? Did we raise our game to a high brow level? What do you think?
