How do you measure a marriage? The topic is on Richard and Linda's minds because they've had two children celebrate anniversaries this past week. Many people worry about their marriage if they aren't alike enough. Two people don't necessarily have to be the same to work together, although sometimes it works out that way, they just have to be on the same page. The Eyres suggest to strive for unity and oneness in marriage.

Today the Eyres are going to vent for a minute. We live in an ever changing world and the issues we face are different from those our parents or ancestors faced. It's important to talk about our world issues and so Richard and Linda came up with a list (in no particular order) of the most serious problems changing the world we live in. Those problems are the gap between rich and poor, climate change, the Christian/Muslim clash, a decline of faith, and the change and deterioration of families.

The Eyres talk about family every week, but today they are talking about the families we all have that have come and gone before us. Young people especially can really find an identity by learning more about and connecting to their ancestors. There are many different parenting styles and so the key is finding out what will be the best for your family.

The Eyres subscribe to the idea that the best thing you can do for your children is to love your spouse. The strength of your relationship is going to have a positive effect on the strength of your parenting. No matter what each parent's responsibilities are outside the home, they need to present a united front to the kids. Richard and Linda also discuss how separated parents can still work together for the kids.

Whether it's a country or a family, every institution needs a few things to operate. Some of the most important of these are Laws, Economy, and Traditions. Most families do these to some extent, having house rules, an allowance, and rituals or patterns; but Richard and Linda today encourage you to write them down. Make it clear to the whole family how these things will work and everyone will understand them better.
