The 2X half of SegWit2X was called off – for now.And this sudden change of heart begs a very important question: Is there an ulterior motive? Tune in for our thoughts. Then later in the show, as we often do for special episodes, we’ll spend some time reflecting on the history of YMB. Don’t miss this. • Bitcoin Price Soars but a Different Record Bitcoin Stat Makes Headlines - YMB Podcast E199

    03/11/2017 Duración: 01h23s

MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e199This is episode 199 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast. The Bitcoin price is filthy high these days. And sure, we want to celebrate that. But some people recently pointed out another record Bitcoin high that’s way less exciting. According to some, this stat indicates that crypto is in deep doo-doo.The number is related to Bitcoin transaction fees, but it’s a little different. (Although transaction fees are also rising and worth talking about tonight.) Rather, this stat is the actual energy cost to mine Bitcoin transactions. According to Motherboard, “[B]itcoin miners worldwide could be using enough electricity to at any given time to power about 2.26 million American homes.”In other words, it costs a buttload of dough to mine Bitcoin transactions. What does that mean for Bitcoin and crypto in general? Will we all come to our senses one day and realize that mining isn’t really good for the universe? Tune in tonight for our thoughts. Also in this w

MP3, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e198This is episode 198 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.I literally haven’t seen a single bit of working Bitcoin Gold infrastructure. Everyone’s been talking about it and some speculators are trading it, but ultimately the new Bitcoin fork is not usable yet. Some wallets and exchanges and pools have committed to supporting it when it’s ready, but it’s still literally not a thing. And the Bitcoin Gold price is plummeting to boot. So what does this all mean? What do we expect for the future of Bitcoin Gold and similar forks? We’ll share our thoughts during this week’s show. Also, Amazon just had a conference call for their investors and never once mentioned Bitcoin. But of course, no one actually knows what the markets will do. Or does someone?…It turns out, there might be one person who literally does know the future of Bitcoin. And a few years back, he had a severe warning and a desperate plea for us.He said the Bitcoin price will soar to heights we’ve never even imagined. So we should celebrate, right? Wrong. He also said Bitcoin will obliterate society. Tonight, we’ll discuss the detailed future this man described for us and share why he’s so certain of it.Then later in the show, we’ll cover the numerous, mysterious account closures at Bittrex this week and more. MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e196This is episode 196 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast. We all know SegWit2x is a hot topic these days and may lead to another Bitcoin chain split. But what about the other possible fork, Bitcoin Gold? Could it possibly have any success? Should we expect forks on forks on forks to come soon?Bcash’s price never came close to Bitcoin’s but it certainly had (and has) some value. Could future splits generate any more free money for OG Bitcoin holders? It sounds like a paradise program for ultra-leftists and progressives. Let’s just pool a bunch of money together, pay big bucks for “executives” to manage it, and give it to people that “need” it!And hell, maybe the IMF really is nothing more than a large, centralized organization funded by governments, for governments. But the fund’s director, Christine Lagarde, recently said some things about Bitcoin that seem dead right. MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e192This is episode 192 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.Harvey wrecked Houston. Irma wrecked Florida. Bad stuff happens. But at the same time, it seems there are plenty of people that try to do good. Some Bitcoiners recently rallied to raise money for hurricane victims. Lots of money was (and is still) raised to help free Ross Ulbricht (http://ymb.tc/tag/ross-ulbricht). Many people recently donated a nice chunk of change to support a hot dog vendor who was harassed by cops.So which is it? Are people good or evil? Is the world good or evil? Happy or sad? It’s about time time we addressed these age old questions on the show. Also tonight: We have to cover the Bitcoin rant from JPMorgan’s CEO. Apparently his daughter bought some coin. Then he called it a fraud and said it would “be closed” soon. Then it crashed. Oh, and he’s repeatedly attempted to file blockchain-related patents. What’s up with that? This is NOT an episode you can miss. Catch the liv

MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e191This is episode 191 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.Every man learns the truth at some point in his life."In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes."There’s a criminal gang out there that will literally cage you or kill you if you don’t fork over your money. This mafia claims to condemn abuse, theft, and murder while practicing every one of those behaviors daily. But it’s okay because all my friends agreed that some people are allowed to hurt other people. They voted. What’s a man to do when he realizes this lot in life? Do we go off grid? Do we attempt to reason with our masters? To we attempt to rally our fellow slaves?Tonight, we’ll chat about all of those options and more. We certainly don’t claim to know the right answers, but we’re going to talk about all this anyway. MP3, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e190This is episode 190 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast. It seems that even the threat of extradition can’t stop Kim Dotcom. He’s been facing piracy charges from the FBI for years and yet continues to develop ways to sling files across the web.About a year ago, we shared the entrepreneur’s plans for a revolutionary, Bitcoin-based micropayments and file sharing platform (http://ymb.tc/e137). The project was dubbed K.im and currently approaches completion. Dotcom released a demo this week and plans to launch an ICO later this year. We’ll share more details and opinions during tonight’s stream. Then after that, we’ll cover one Bitcoiner’s theory about how the NSA identified Satoshi Nakamoto. The agency hasn’t revealed this identity, of course, but supposedly they have it. They just needed to grab all of Satoshi’s writings, keep track of how often he used certain words and phrases, and compare those rates with samples from scary-sounding databases like PRIS

  • How to Silence the Idiots Who Disagree With You (And Why Tim Says You Should) - YMB Podcast E189

MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e189This is episode 189 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.Censorship is a real thing. If you don’t agree with me, I’ll delete your comments and ban you. But what happens when “censorship” is totally private? To what extent can/should I silence people on my own property or my own website? This is an incredibly important concept for Bitcoin too. What happens if a bunch of users, miners, or nodes decide not to allow transactions from certain addresses? What if parts of the network refuse to propagate certain messages? What happens when users are regularly banned from r/Bitcoin?We’ve covered similar questions countless times over the years (http://ymb.tc/e48), but the discussion may never really end. Recent events also raise questions about censoring politically extreme websites, message boards, and social media accounts. Is this good? Will it make lives better?Let’s find out. • Dan Was Sexually Assaulted Twice This Week - YMB Podcast E188

MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e188This is episode 188 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast. It’s dead true. I (Daniel Brown) got felt up by the TSA twice this week. They called it an “enhanced pat down” but the term “sexual assault” is far more fitting. They also went through all my belongings and physically opened up one of my phones. Tonight I need to share my story and explain how it concerns you and your Bitcoins.I tried to remain calm during the assault, but the experience left me shaken for hours. I’m honestly still extremely shaken. The one and only good thing that came out of this is my new, firsthand knowledge about what the government can and will do to human beings. And this knowledge has revitalized my desire to protect myself (and you!) from such behavior. So while I’m neither a security expert nor a privacy buff, I’ll certainly share some tips that may keep you and your stuff safer during similar encounters. You can NOT miss tonight’s tell-all stream.Oh, and Bitcoin i

MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e187This is episode 187 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.TRIGGER WARNING: In the post below, I refer to the Bitcoin with more hashing power as the original Bitcoin. It’s the one that adopted SegWit and currently trades at over $3,000. I hope that triggers you.So. We’ve been forked for a week and (the original) Bitcoin has done nothing but soar. Now what?Have we finally emerged from the fiery furnaces of debate and conflict? Has Bitcoin walked the hot coals to become a real, mature crypto, ready to take on the world? Does Bitcoin Cash still stand a chance to dethrone the original Bitcoin? What does this week’s SegWit lock-in mean for the two Bitcoins?Good questions. We’ll do our best to talk through all that and more tonight. Then later in the show, we’ll play a talk radio interview that I (Daniel) did on Trending Today USA. Host Ernie Brown asked me all about what Bitcoin is, where it came from, where it’s going, and more. And it’s not a Bitcoin r

At long last, Bitcoin has forked (or copied, or split, or whatever you want to call it). We anticipated this event for months, but as the saying goes, hindsight is always 20/20.So now that the event has passed, what does it mean? MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e185This is episode 185 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.Principal: “Do NOT bring your cellular devices to school.”Class: “roflul kk good luck.”That’s exactly how the SEC sounded to us this week when they declared that ICOs may be subject to their securities laws. It’s hilarious enough that the SEC claims authority to write stuff on paper and expect the entire globe to obey. It’s even funnier when the agency issues a stern “investigative report” in an effort to regain control and the crypto world just laughs in the regulators’ faces. The principal never came close to successfully eliminating cell phones from his classrooms and lunchrooms. The SEC, likewise, will never come close to stopping ICOs. So in today’s show, we’ll have a good laugh and share some predictions about what the ICO community will do in the future. Then after that, we’ll dive into Bitcoin Cash. With BIP 148 expected to kick in soon, some people thought we successfully avoided a h

For the first time, we recorded a show with our hosts in the same location, using a single camera and a single microphone. This is YMB history. This episode is super casual. We simply let our thoughts flow and everything is completely uncut. We also had some good smokes and good drinks.First up, we’ll share some thoughts about this week’s BIP 91 lock in, which is likely the cause of the current Bitcoin price spike. This is only the beginning of a long scaling journey, but we still want to celebrate. Then later in the show, we’ll review Coinbase’s decision not to honor hard fork coins if Bitcoin splits. And after that, Tim will rant about regulations, minarchism, anarchism, governments in general, sheeple, and so much more.Tune in for an absolute blast of an episode! MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e183This is episode 183 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.Scaling, scaling, scaling. Everything is about scaling these days. Do we want SegWit2x? UASF? No changes? Something else?To be honest, we’re kinda sick of talking about scaling, so tonight we’re gonna dive into something related but different: sidechains. Or more specifically, drivechains. The concept of sidechains has been around for awhile, but according to Kyle Torpey, it appears that a protocol called drivechain will soon become the leading sidechain implementation. One theory is that sidechains will solve Bitcoin scaling by allowing completely new blockchains to reduce Bitcoin’s load. Is this really possible? Would it compromise Bitcoin’s security? We’ll try to answer those questions and share more details during this week’s livestream. Then later in the show, we’ll cover some brand new events in the Mt. Gox saga. Karpeles is finally going to trial, but (of course) he says he’s innocent.T

    30/06/2017 Duración: 01h03min

MP3, Poll, Links, and More: http://ymb.tc/e181This is episode 181 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast. If the title of today’s show threw you for a loop, good. It might shock some people, but it’s dead true. The NSA’s policies promoted the spread of a ransomware computer virus that wreaked havoc on US hospitals this week. The virus uses a Windows exploit called EternalBlue to propagate itself across networks. The technique was supposedly developed by the NSA and kept secret so that it could be used offensively against other nations, militaries, or regimes. But EternalBlue was leaked in April and is has been used in multiple ransomware attacks since. Some of these viruses are still spreading, including one that hit US hospitals this week. How on earth could something like this happen? Even if the NSA could safely avoid leaks, is it right for them to hoard exploits like EternalBlue? We’ll share more details and dive into these questions during tonight’s stream. Then later in the show, we’ll touch
