  • 312: The One Word Family Mission & Community Gathering with Seth Dailey

    13/01/2022 Duración: 33min

Gentleman, if you had to pick your One Word for the year, what would it be?  For those that aren’t aware, the One Word concept is from a book titled, One Word That Will Change Your Life by Jon Gordon, Dan Britton, and Jimmy Page.  The idea is to pick a word for the year, write it down (or, even better, create a painting with it), and then simply pay attention to how the word shows up in your life throughout the year. The whole idea for this episode came about from the time I spent with my great friend and longtime brother of the FRD community, Seth Dailey. As an annual tradition, Seth and his family get together around the holidays, and they decide what their One Word will be for the year. I was very grateful that they invited my family to their beautiful home and allowed us to join them for this exercise. It was such a powerful experience, and I absolutely loved it. Seth is a husband, father of 4 amazing daughters, who are some of the most inspiring humans I’ve ever met. He’s the Co-Founder and the Operating

    07/01/2022 Duración: 49min

What does Wealth & Legacy mean to you? So many of us get trapped trying to get to that next level (in our business and careers), without thinking about the family values we say are so important to us. Are you building your family around your business, or is your business being built around your family? Because there’s a big difference!  At Front Row Dads, one of the 6 pillars we focus on is Wealth & Legacy— and to us, that means a lot more than just making money. Here’s how we define it… “Responsibly using our vast resources to create an abundant life for kids and generations to come.”  If that sounds like the type of wealth you want to build, then you won’t want to miss today’s episode. I’m speaking with Front Row Dad members, Steve Bouchard, Matthew Sprang, and Oliver Wolf about our Wealth & Legacy Online Summit happening on January 20th. • 310: What Is Front Row Dads?

    24/12/2021 Duración: 34min

I was so busy being a moment maker for others that I wasn't being a moment maker for my own family. That was my realization back in 2015 before starting Front Row Dads. At that time, I was a businessman with a family, NOT a family man with a business. I knew if something didn't change, I'd regret it for the rest of my life. And so, Front Row Dads was born! Not because I had all the answers on how to be a great dad, but because I felt like I needed them the most. In today's episode, I explore the history of Front Row Dads. I talk about how this group started, what we stand for, and what makes the FRD brotherhood so special. I also discuss some of the big things happening in 2022 and beyond! Whether you're thinking about joining the group or are already a member, this is an important episode that you won’t want to miss. • 309: What’s Working At Home? (and in FRD)

    22/12/2021 Duración: 29min

Guys, I have a simple question for this episode… What's working at home for you? Oftentimes, we tend to look at the negative and where we're falling short as husbands and fathers. But what about the wins? What's better today than it was yesterday? I've realized that being conscious of my gains has made a massive difference in how I show up and feel about life. Today, I'm sharing some personal victories from this year in the categories of Parenting, Health, Wealth, Emotional Mastery, and Business. I hope that these examples will help you identify some of the major gains you've experienced this year as well.  When you shine a light on the good, it empowers you to create more of it. You can try and fix all your problems, or you can figure out what's working and double down! Podcast Highlights Unsuccessful people focus on "The Gap", but successful people focus on "The Gain" (Thanks, Dan Sullivan) My 1-1 schedule with the boys Getting real about health, fellas – I’m talking colonoscopies and parasites. • 308: The Darkside of Dad with Ben Stewart

    17/12/2021 Duración: 59min

Gents, not sure if any of you have seen it, but Aubrey Marcus just released his film, Awake In The Darkness, which documents his week-long journey in the pitch black. No lights, just his mind, and the darkness. How the story is told is truly remarkable. I was so moved by the artistic approach to this film that I decided to reach out to the director, Ben Stewart, to invite him on the show. In addition to being a film director, Ben is also a musician, artist, professional health coach, and dad of three. Ben and I explore a lot in this episode. We talk about how our behavior impacts our children (and vice versa), the benefits of meditating with your kids, a healthy approach to fighting with your spouse, and much more. We also discuss the filming/editing of the documentary and Ben’s creative process for bringing an unconventional story to life, despite shooting in utter darkness. • Impulses and the Sparketype of Parenting with Jonathan Fields

    10/11/2021 Duración: 30min

About 6 years ago, there was this piercing moment when my wife told me that I’m more of a moment maker for other people than I am for my own family—a wake up call for a drastic change... and the birth of this podcast. As someone who’s struggled with vanishing into my pursuits, a compulsion that can swallow you whole, I know how important it is to reassess where you’re at for yourself and your family.  Which leads me to today’s part 2 conversation with Jonathan fields…  He’s talking to us about how knowing our deeper self can change our approach to parenting, and help us become aware of the impulses that drive us. • The Heart of the Spark with Jonathan Fields

    08/11/2021 Duración: 31min

As I get older there’s a lot less fear around being myself. I’ve become conscious of my truest nature and don't feel the need to seek approval from others. This has allowed me to feed my curiosity for learning while also being present for my kids, Tiger and Ocean. My guest, the very humble Jonathan Fields, is talking about this exact change in self-perception, something he refers to as your Sparketype.  He believes that we change in depth, quality, and self-awareness as we get older—a shift that he talks about in his new book, SPARKED: Discover Your Unique Imprint for Work That Makes You Come Alive. Jonathan is a speaker, award-winning author, and creator of multiple businesses. Today he takes a deep dive into our states of mind and shows us how we can come alive at work and at home. Jonathan shares his thoughts on identity, his organic life lessons, and helps us balance the spectrum of fulfillment—something that we all struggle with as entrepreneurial dads.  Tune in to this amazing conversation that I know w

  • Honoring Boundaries and Breaking Rules with Andrew Kuhn & Matt Drinkhahn - Part 1

    28/10/2021 Duración: 33min

A friend of mine reached out to chat the other day. And as much as I love to chat, I really just wanted to tell them that I had no time. Absolutely none. And that’s hard for me.  I don’t know about you, but time management and scheduling in my calendar really kicks my ass sometimes. How do we actually get everything done in our schedules and then have time to be dads? How do we learn to set boundaries around saying no to certain things? Luckily, we have Andrew Kuhn and ‘Coach’ Matt Drinkhahn on today’s two part episode talking to us about what’s proven to be effective in our calendars, where we fail, and how we learn from that. These two family men are successful business owners, and members of Front Row Dads. Matt is a coach for recovering perfectionists and highly functioning workaholics, while Andrew is the owner of a real estate investment company—and they’re absolutely killing it. They teach us about integrity in keeping our commitments, and knowing when to break the rules surrounding the boundaries you’

  • Cultivating Curiosity with Consent Based Learning with Philip Mott - Part 1

    22/10/2021 Duración: 25min

Guys, I just learned something that is so important and powerful to my heart... Instead of helping your kids see the world differently, try to see your kids’ world differently. This idea comes from my two-part episode with Philip Mott, which is all about homeschooling and consent based learning. Philip Mott is the author of Principles of the Patient Parent, and elementary teacher turned homeschooling father. He shares his struggles with school growing up, and how he started to associate learning with pain, frustration, and being looked down on— something I never want my kids to feel while learning. As someone who never quite vibed with the educational system myself, the thought of adopting a new model to educate my kids is pretty intriguing. In our conversation, we cover curiosity, consent, and recognizing the storyline of your kids. Philip teaches us that there shouldn’t be a difference between learning and living and wants to shift your mindset around how to educate your kids. If you’ve ever considered a di

  • In a World Addicted to Speed, Slowness is Your Superpower with Carl Honoré

    15/10/2021 Duración: 46min

Lately I’ve been wanting to wake up and have the first 10 minutes of my day to be full of nothing. Whether it’s refraining from opening my phone, making a to-do list, or sending off an email, I’d really prefer a moment to sit on the couch, or snuggle with my kids and listen to a children’s audiobook. And maybe we’re all moving a little too fast. As fathers, especially ambitious entrepreneurial dads, it’s easy to put speed into your family life; having a workaholic approach to parenting. But that’s not how it should be. What if we stopped trying to fill up that time, slowed down, and just experienced being in the moment?   On today’s episode, we have the very inspirational Carl Honoré, who talks about exactly that. Author of four books, a two-time TED speaker, broadcaster, journalist,  and voice of the Slow Movement, Carl has delivered his insight on the benefits of being slow to millions across the globe. A free-range child of the 80’s, Carl had a slow childhood, and tries hard to give that same upbringing t
