  • Unsolved: Missing Indigenous Women

    13/12/2022 Duración: 19min

In the United States, approximately 4200 indigenous people go missing and are murdered. All unsolved. Although it is thought these numbers are way higher due to underreporting. We will get to that over the next couple of months. But even at the official numbers, these are alarming rates. On some reservations, women experience violence and are victims of homicide at ten times the rate of women in other communities. This is obviously a complex issue with prejudice and jurisdictional issues and these all play major roles. 5 Janice Hannigan4 Daisy Tallman3 Delphine Nikal2 Alyssa McLemore1 Cynthia MartinFacebook /mysteriouslylistedTwitter @mysteriouslistMusic is by Myuu Hosted on Acast. • Solved: Loved to Death

    27/07/2022 Duración: 22min

Break up violence is common in relationships that were physically abusive. According to the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence, “women in abusive relationships are about 500 times more at risk when they leave”. However, break up violence can occur even if there was no history of violence. The Ohio Violence Free Coalition has made a strong effort to inform parents about break up violence which is an ongoing issue  amongst teens and young adults. According to their studies, “a person is more likely to be seriously injured and killed after a break up. And in 20% of relationship homicides, the killing itself was the first act of violence”. If anything, I hope the tragic cases we will talk about this week will serve as a reminder to take extra safety precautions when dealing with a potentially violent ex. 4 Amy Wensley3 Heather Stamper2 James Barry1 Cristina ProdanFacebook /mysteriouslylistedTwitter @mysteriouslistMusic is by Myuu See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

For anyone who listens to my podcasts, you would know that I gravitate towards missing persons cases. And then decades go by and the case goes cold. How can a person just disappear into thin air?The Charley Project is a detailed, amazing website that lists more then 14,000 missing person cases right across the United States. To me, it’s always sad when these profiles only have a sentence or two because of the lack of information available. But there are others whose disappearance is chilling to the core. • Solved: Murder by Teenager

    31/05/2022 Duración: 21min

It’s always shocking when it is revealed a crime was committed by a minor. When searching for their killer, investigators typically search for those who have patterns of violence and criminal activity. And while there are teens with a juvenile record, they don’t typically fit the profile of a potential murder suspect. And this is supported by statistics. Only 7% of murders that occur in the United States are committed by teenagers and young children. Heinous murders committed by teenagers.
