This week we’re on a podcast cohost double date with Chris and Christi Eddleman from the show Chrises on Infinite Earths, where they dive deep into comic book crossovers good and bad and find out what makes them tick. This week, Lonnie Nadler’s here to talk about his new turn-of-the-century horror series from Vault Comics, “Black Stars Above.” We talk about how he picked his creative team, the research that went into the book and the fact it’s his first published comics work as a solo writer, apart from his friend and collaborator Zac Thompson. But first, we present our final New York Comic Con mini-interview. It’s with Jed Mackay, the writer of Marvel’s “Black Cat” and “Man Without Fear” and contributor to the recent “Alpha Flight: True North” one-shot.

This week we’re talking with Nola Pfau, editor-in-chief for Women Write About Comics, who is stepping over to the other side of the page with their first published comics work in the anthology magazine Bun & Tea. We talk about that project, their work at Women Write About Comics and their upcoming Excalibur recap column at XavierFiles.com. Writer Stephanie Phillips returns to talk about her upcoming Dark Horse series, "The Butcher of Paris," about a real-life serial killer who operated in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. This week we’re talking with Sean Lewis, the writer of Image Comics’ “Thumbs” with artist Hayden Sherman. We talk about that series, as well as his previous comics, “Saints,” “The Few,” “Betrothed,” etc., one of which he drops a WMQ ‘sclusie on! Beyond comics, we also talk about Sean’s extensive work in theater and film, and how he makes time for all of it. Plus! We learn Sean’s favorite X-Men comic, and it’s a good one.
