In this Sort, Graham & Jeff discuss, the time before the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A time when the majority of Superhero movies lost money and ruined careers. We discuss the Origin Story of Superheroes from Print comics in the 30s to the importance of radio in the 40s to TV in the 50s and finally to the Silver Screen. We also play a game of “Bargepole or Belter” where Jeff lists 25 pre MCU Superhero movies and asks Graham which of these movies should not be touched with a BARGEPOLE and which are BELTERS and well worth a watch.

In this At the Flicks Short, Jeff returns to his favourite movie genre, Horror. He goes back to the very beginning of Cinema to look at the origins of the horror movie in the silent era.

This latest horror podcast short has Jeff discussing the highly acclaimed horror feature Hereditary with Neil and Graham. In his own unique wayJeff answers the following questions ; is it worth seeing, what are its merits and could Jeff persuade the horror phobic duo to check it out?

For the July Podcast (Whitney Tags the Incredibles), we recorded an interview with musical arranger Robin A. Smith. Due to time constraints we could not include all of the material we recorded with Robin. In particular there was an outtake about the legendary singer Elvis Presley, that we felt we just had to share with our listeners.

Welcome to the very first At the Flicks, “Short”. Shorts, are created by the At the Flicks team as additional movie related material, that did not fit into the format of the main monthly Podcast. These Shorts, are brief single topic discussions on subjects that are very close to our movie going hearts. Unlike the monthly podcast there is no set delivery date for Shorts. As we think of an idea for a Short we will record and publish it on our SoundCloud page as soon as possible. We hope you enjoy this first short, in which Jeff tries to to convince Graham and Neil that they really should see more Horror films. Phil recounts details of his time as front of house manager, in the 90's and early 2000's! He talks about the technical challenges of projecting movies from reels of actual Celluloid! Meeting the cast of Harry Potter and a number of humorous stories detailing the complexities of running a cinema and dealing with the cinema going public.
