This episode is the conclusion to my Black History Month celebration series. Even though this is the end, I will continue to recognize, rejoice in, recommit to, and reeducating myself and others about Black History all year round. I hope you all do as well. Together, we can use our history to break the chains of ignorance, hate, and discrimination perpetrated against us and sadly at times by us. This episode is part 3 of our four part Black History Month series. I talk about recommitting ourselves to ourselves. I challenge you the listener as well as myself, family and friends to commit to making a difference in the lives of those we come in contact with. By challenging ourselves to do and be better, we can and will improve each and every one of our communities. Are you up for the challenge? I know I am. In this episode I also talk about committing ourselves to challenge the way our history is being taught to our children in these schools. I used the real Rosa Parks story, and not the sanitized version they teach, as an illustration of the whitewashing of our history. This episode is the kickoff to a month long series dedicated to Black History....American History. The focus of this series will be defined by the four R's: Reflection, Rejoicing, Recommitting, and Re-Educating. I believe these 4 things are necessary in order for us as a collective to further grow in the right direction. This first episode I talk about Dr. Carter G Woodson, the creator and curator for Negro History Week, which was the foundation of Black History Month. I hope this spurs more people to learn and teach about our rich and very understated and whitewashed history. In this episode I am joined by writer and fellow Black With No Chaser member Angela Dennis as we discuss the harsh rape culture we are living in and its far reaching affects. This is something that we both feel that ,we as a collective, need to come together and address this head on at all times, and not just when a celebrity is involved. Angela also discussed the details of her latest article where she addresses the need for us to be careful of quickly judging Black men when they are facing allegations of rape or any other sexual misconduct.  Within the confines of this convo, I talk about the effects this culture has on young Black women and children. This episode is a continuation of one I did a few weeks ago talking about the case of Cyntoia Brown and how I hoped for her to gain clemency.  This episode is celebratory in nature but it is also a wake up reminder and a realization that there is still so much work to be done in the protection of our Black women and children as well as prison reform. Kelly. Although I have given my opinion on this subject before, I feel that it is necessary to give my insight and my feelings on this at this time. He and others like him who condone or enable this behavior should be dealt with and exposed for the predators that they are. In this episode, I also talk about the sad murder of 7 year old Jazmine Barnes in the Houston area. This episode became an unintentional follow up to last week's NO Justice, Just Us episode. I talk about the case and in my opinion, the modern day lynching of Cyntoia Brown. This case lead me to search for and discuss other cases that demonstrate the racial disparities in the way the justice system operates. There is a cruel and distinct difference in "justice" meted out to Black people and other minorities versus non POC.
