Way before streaming services came along and could easily show "limited series" like “The Queen's Gambit,” “Godless,” or “Mare of Easttown,” broadcast television back in the day excitedly came up with a new special way to present longer programs. Thus, the mini-series exploded in the 1970s and was a popular form of television entertainment for decades. Social phenomenon like “Roots” were hugely popular, as was “The Thorn Birds,” but your Film Freaks highlight four terrific TV mini-series that helped set the mold and deliver fabulous entertainment you could enjoy from the comfort of your very own home.
