Super bowl Sunday, a day many people look forward to every year. It comes only once a year, but the preparation and time put into it takes the entire year for the players. Even the players who probably won’t step foot onto the field still practice and train just as hard, so that on the off chance someone gets hurt, they are fully ready to step in. That is how we should be in our lives, preparing and training for the place we want to be, so when God calls, we are ready. Prepare as if you are already there. In this weeks podcast, Pastor Jeremy Johnson gives us insight on how The Bible is full of sports and battle references, and how there can only be one winning team. The good thing is, you already are on the winning team! Jesus won the victory and you get to share in it with Him!

As a church, this year we are shifting to another level, and maturing in Christ. As you mature and grow, you have to allow God to come into your heart and heal the things that you’ve held onto for so long. It is not going to be easy, and it’s going to be painful as the words and wounds are being ripped away to make way for healing. Make time to sit with the Lord. Make time to eat with the Lord. Our tongues have the power of life and death, we have to guard what we say and what goes out into the atmosphere. All too often we find ourselves asking God for more. Whether it’s money, time, friendships, or material things, our flesh needs more! What if God is just waiting for us to look at what we already have, and ask Him what He wants us to do with it. Those who are faithful with little will be faithful with a lot, that rule applies to everything in our lives! In this message Pastor Jeremy Johnson gives us a new perspective on a story everyone in church has heard, Mark 6:30-44, the story of Jesus multiplying the fish & loaves. We often look at the miracle and think about how wonderful it was, but we miss the steps Jesus took in between. Christmas time is here, everyone’s favorite holiday filled with food, family, and presents under that beautifully twinkling tree. But do we really know what the first Christmas was about? The first Christmas was about the presence of God. Not presents, but presence. It is an invitation for us to become His children if we will simply believe. It is clear that being a believer in Jesus has nothing to do with being religious, but everything to do with love and action. It starts with loving God, loving yourself, and then loving others as you love yourself. You cannot love others well until you learn to love yourself well, which comes after you come to know the love of God. Our love for others will be polluted if we do not love ourselves first.

Believe it or not, you can be a believer even in crisis. Unbelief is combated through faith, and faith is action, plus belief, plus confidence. If you give God your trust, He can handle any situation better than you can.

One voice we will probably hear the loudest is the voice of the enemy, and we need to remember that it is also the weakest. Some of the markers that will help you identify the enemy’s voice will be if the words cause oppression, confusion, discouragement, or rage. The enemy will tend to attack when we are tired because his main goal is to bring us down to his level to entangle us in the things that entangled him. Jesus wants to lead us in triumph, celebrating the victory He has already won over the enemy. In this powerful message, Pastor Jeremy Johnson speaks on the voice of the enemy and how we must learn to resist him and our urge to listen to him by the grace of God.

When Jesus came back to the disciples, He did not show wounds;He showed scars! It showed that He overcame death, hell and the grave. How much greater of an overcomer can there be? As we grow in our relationship with Him, we will begin to discern His voice in our lives, but He isn’t the only one that speaks. The Bible teaches us to test every spirit that speaks into our lives, so that we may walk in truth and not be deceived. In this message, Pastor Jeremy Johnson teaches us about the gift of prophecy and how we can test the spirits we hear in order to hear the Lord clearer.

Just as pain is to the body, so is your conscience to your spirit. Your conscience was given to you by God to help discern and receive His voice. When you first began your walk with the Lord, your conscience was renewed, and as you spend time with the Lord, the Word of God becomes etched into your heart. The enemy will always try to muffle the voice of God in your life, and he attacks your conscience by trying to sear it with his own lies. If he can’t sear your conscience with lies, he will muddy or corrupt your conscience and how it hears the Word of God. There is good news, though! He can wash and renew your conscience with the blood of Jesus! Have you ever seen a butterfly and thought to yourself, “Wow that’s a beautiful caterpillar with wings!” Probably not. When a caterpillar goes through the transformation of becoming a butterfly, it sheds off the old and becomes new. It is no longer a caterpillar, but a brand new creation. Likewise with you; when you transform and become a new creation in Christ, you shed off the old. You are no longer the old, dead person you once were, but you are alive in Christ and you are transformed!
