Along the way we cover some strange and often tangential topics. In our news segment there are name changes and assault charges, we take a brief look into Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky's Just the Tips, a sexual manual for those so inclined (those being fictional people with more than a few mental issues), a patriotic tribute to one of the comic worlds greatest fallen hero, and in our Top of the Stack segment we (meaning Mr. Blahg) talk at great length about the entire Planet of the Apes franchise as Grace picks Michael Moreci and Dan McDade's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes comic from BOOM Comics, and Mr. Blahg makes a very sober selection with Robbie Morrison and Charlie Adlard's White Death from Image Comics. And of course... as always... we answer your emails and blathe

What? The Walking Dead?? Squeeeeee!!!! Yes, this week, Under the Comic Covers covers the world's most popular zombie show... however, we talk about that weird picture book version of that story by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead #134: From Whispers to Screams. We also go over a new addition to the UtCC stable of titles; Copperhead, by Jay Faerber and Scott Godlewski. Described as Deadwood in space, Copperhead lives up to that description with a fantastic first three issues and a pairing of main characters that will win you over in a heartbeat. Per usual, we answer your emails and take a peek at the Tops of our Stacks with an Image First, Drifter, by Ivan Brandon and Nic Klein; as well as give an advance review of Graveyard Shift, by Jay Faerber (Copperhead) and Fran Bueno. 24/10/2014 Duración: 01h35min

Under the Comic Covers returns this week with perennial favorites, The Walking Dead #133: Impending Doom, and Revival #24. But before we dig too deeply into these titles, we spend a little time sharing our experiences at Walker Stalker Con: Atlanta, 2014... from moderating a panel with Jason Momoa to thanking an endless see of attendees and staff, we had a great time. In addition to this, we answer your emails and reach for what we have on the Top of the Stack. This week, Grace picks Stumptown, while Mr. B goes with something a bit more out of character... G.I. • 33: Manifest Destiny #11

    15/10/2014 Duración: 36min

This week, Under the Comic Covers covers... not three!... not two!!... but one whole issue!!! Fortunately, it happens to be one of all all-time favorite titles, Chris Dingess' and Matthew Roberts' fantastic revisioning of Lewis and Clark's expedition into the wilds of an untamed America, Manifest Destiny. In one of the best issues of the current arc thus far, Lewis manages one of the best spur of the moment heroic moments, and we manage to talk around that fact with our usual aplomb. In addition to this title, we cover some weekly news, including a great "man on the street" report from Kirk Manley (http://www.studiokm.com/) with regard to NYCC, and we top it all off with Top of the Stack, our new weekly segment covering new and otherwise interesting reads not covered in our usual lineup of books. They go deep into the confusion that is this mid point of the second arc of Black Science, and go down and dirty with the rainbow of mental and sexual health that is Sex Criminals. In addition to this, they answer your emails, discuss the news of the week, give some insight into the differences between sober and drunken podcasting, talk about a couple of new titles in "Top of the Stack"; Wytches and Copperhead, and ultimately have a great time going over two of our favorite titles. 03/10/2014 Duración: 01h52min

We seem to be making a habit of covering three issues a week... and this week is no exception! Under the Comic Covers spends some time discussing The Walking Dead #132: Happiness, Nailbiter #6, and Rat Queens #8. Three great titles... two deep character development issues and one rather shocking and game changing twist.  In addition to these three issues, we answer your emails, and we introduce the title of our new segment that focuses on one new title from each of us every week. Quick side note... there was a slight problem with Mr. Blahg's audio file, you may hear a slight static sound when listening at high volume, but hopefully this won't detract from your enjoyment of the episode. Rest assured, the problem will be resolved before next week. • 30: Manifest Destiny #10; Chew #43; Saga #23

    26/09/2014 Duración: 01h44min

After a week off, Under the Comic Covers returns with playing catch up as we cover last weeks release of Manifest Destiny #10, as well as stay current with Chew #43 and Saga #23. Manifest Destiny finds our intrepid explorers two steps closer to freeing themselves from both the underwater arch and the horrifying giant mosquitos on land... Chew moves one Olive-sized step towards bringing down The Collector... and Saga fleshes out exactly what Hazel meant by her parents spliting up, and the cliffhanger is unbearable. In addition to these three issues, we answer your emails, feature our final segment of What's Rachael Reading, and introduce our newest segment, (name to be determined) that allows us to discuss one title each that we don't cover on the show. 12/09/2014 Duración: 01h57min

Under the Comic Covers returns this week to go over two perennial favorites, The Walking Dead #131, which reunites us with some old favorites while also introducing new characters, and Locke & Key Vol. 5: Clockworks, diving deep into the origin of the keys and answering each and every question posited in the first four volumes. Before we dig into those issues we have a few bits of news up front, as well as a couple of cool announcements regarding Walker Stalker Con Atlanta, and unfortunately we will not be releasing an episode next week due to Mr. Blahg's vacation. After all of that goodness we answer some emails and give our (Mr. Blahg's) opinion of various pickles ranging from fried to cornichons... and be sure to stay until the very end to get a brief taste of what Mr. Blahg will be immersed in next week. 05/09/2014 Duración: 01h03min

This week, Under the Comic Covers dives into one title, Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson's Nailbiter #5. This remarkably creepy and atmospheric book about a town that breeds serial killers and the lovely folk within rounds out it's first arc in stunning and gruesome fashion. We also answer a few emails and, as always, we check in with our favorite comic virgin and get a report in What's Rachael Reading?. I'm not quite sure how we did it... but we mananged to wring a surprising amount of levity and joy from this material. Hope you enjoy. • 27: Black Science #8; Revival #23; Saga #22

    29/08/2014 Duración: 01h52min

We were told it could not be done... we pointed out that we had done it before... but still there were unbelievers.  Tonight we tackle three titles, each as wonderful as the next... each as bad ass, if not more bad ass, than the one that preceded it.  In this episode, Under the Comic Covers dives deep into Black Science #8, Revival #23, and Saga #22 and come out the other end damaged, disturbed, and discombobulated in all the best ways possible. We also take a departure from out usual format and in an effort to curtail potential spoilers in the Mail Sack, we are now answering emails that pertain to paricular titles within the discussions of those titles.  Does that mean the Mail Sack is gone?  Nope... now it's just spread around a bit more evenly. In addition to these great titles, and our answering of listener comments, we also take a quick visit with our favorite former comic virgin Rachael in another installment of What's Rachael Reading. We also take the opportunity to discuss our top 3, or so, other other titles that we read but don't cover regularly (for now) on the show. • 25: The Walking Dead #130; Sex Criminals #7

    15/08/2014 Duración: 01h35min

Things get funky and very, very adult in this episode of Under the Comic Covers.  We start off rather tame with our coverage of The Walking Dead... zombies, new communities, and a baby.  But things take a turn for the blue once we start in with Sex Criminals, so be forewarned, that segment is not for the more innocent listeners we may have... and if that isn't enticing, I don't know what would be.   Now with 69% more porn music than before! In addition to the debauchery and good times to be found in this episode we also take a deep dive into the UtCC Mail Sack and answer our listener mail as well as another installment of What's Rachael Reading?.
