This is a recording of the talk I gave during a mid-day reflection for students of the University of St. Thomas School of Law on January 28.  The reflection invited participants to consider ways in which we decide that certain people are fundamentally “not us” and to start to think about how we might relinquish the attitudes that prevent our full loving encounter with Christ disguised as an “other.”  (19:55)

This is a recording of a talk I gave during the final session of an Advent Retreat in Daily Living I offered at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.  My final talk had the goal of helping us to focus on what gift we will offer the Christ child as we kneel before the creche on Christmas morning.  To do that, I used the Van Dyke story, The Story of the Other Wise Man.  The presentation is part summary, part reading of a story that I re-read each Christmas.

This is a recording of a talk I gave during the third session of an Advent Retreat in Daily Living, which I am currently offering at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.  During this talk I talk about preparing a dwelling for the Lord, which requires that we first get in touch with the fact that God already dwells within us.

This podcast is drawn from a reflection on John the Baptist that I gave at an Advent communion service for the elderly and homebound using the Gospel for the Second Sunday of Advent.  The talk focuses first on what is special about John and then on his message, which is as applicable to us as we prepare for Christ's coming today as it was for the people John spoke to before the birth of Christ.  The length of the podcast is 10:24.

Martha's Faith is based on a post-communion reflection I gave at St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, New York, on July 29, 2008, the feast of St. Martha.  The podcast length is 7:45.
