#128: Rome is Burning and We are Drinking Gasoline After a week leave of absence, the hosts rejoin reality and the show to talk about some important discoveries and opinions. Back in episode 105, the team talked about baby drop boxes and how they had been successful in other states as a means to drop off a baby without alerting the law to it. Recently a law has been passed for Michigan that will allow for some of these baby drop boxes to be placed in Michigan. They talk through what the means and how important of a bipartisan step that Michigan lawmakers have made. #127: Center For Inquiry and Civics Day Today’s episode is special and one that Tanner felt was needed after a long day of talking to legislators. This episode is done in solo as Hanna has taken off a few weeks to be with his wife and newborn daughter. This episode will focus on the recent Civic’s Day hosted by CFI Michigan at the Michigan State capitol building. The episode will talk about his experiences, the desire to start working toward changing people’s minds when it comes to interacting with local politics, and staying involved with up to date information about the bills going around in Michigan. The goals the Chris Squared Duo have set for themselves and their desire to promote local politics first, lead them to start researching and attending different events in an effort to continue their pursuit of a better government. #126: Alpha God: The Psychology of Religious Violence and Oppression This episode is a solo effort by Tanner, as Hanna’s wife just had their second child and he is taking time off to be with the family. We wish him the best and are excited to see all the amazing baby pictures whenever he recovers from the shock of being a father a second time. Alexis, Candace, and Karen join the show to talk about their essays on how religion has affected them as women. The book is a collection of essays by different women, from different walks of life, all talking about the damage that religion has done to women. Each essay is a different story told through different lenses to allow for a unique blend of upbringing, beliefs, apostasy, and an understanding on how to survive the different aspects of religion as a women. The show begins with a look at a new antibiotic that is in animal trials that could help super flu diseases like MRSA. They look at what the new study has found and how promising it could be to helping stop the rate of death caused by this awful disease. After they pour out a little hand sanitizer on their microphones, the duo look at Facebook and its breach of personal integrity and a degradation of Facebook morals.
