Another week, another string of bad losses by the Boston Celtics highlighted by bad defense.  Yes, the Celtics did get a win this week, but we all know who that was against. After giving up 118 points in a loss to the Phoenix Suns earlier in the week, the Celtics got scorched by Marc Gasol and the shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies last night.  Is it already time to push the panic button? Host Larry H. Russell seems to think so.  The team doesn’t seem to have what it takes to execute at the end of games and to commit to a collective defensive identity.  While the games may be close now, LHR tells you why he believes that is going to be a recipe for disaster.   While there haven’t been many highlights for the Celtics on the court this year, there have been many highlights on the Celtics Beat podcast.  The Celts were in Memphis last night to take on the best team in the NBA.  How were these Grizzlies put together? It’s time to turn back the clock this week on Celtics Beat.  In this very special edition show, Rich Conte will take a look back at one of the best, if not the best, team in Boston Celtics history.   The 1973 Boston Celtics set a team record for most wins, 68, had the league MVP in Dave Cowens, but failed to capture a championship.  During the Eastern Conference Finals, Hall of Famer John Havlicek separated his shoulder, and the Celtics were never able to overcome the injury -- succumbing to the eventual champion New York Knicks in seven games.   Rich will have the pleasure to be joined by the legendary Bob Ryan.  Ryan is arguably the greatest professional basketball scribe in North American sports.  The 1972-73 Celtics was Ryan’s first year on the Celtics beat for the Boston Globe, and he has called that season his favorite in history.  Rich and Bob will look back, reminisce, and analyze that season.
