Jimmy Anderson started proceedings by bowling his milestone 700th career test wicket, which is third all-time in international test cricket. Joe Root led the scoring for England in the 2nd innings with 84 runs but in the end, it wasn't enough to take the test to another day and England make the journey home with a comprehensive loss on their record. India's openers put on 140 runs for the final 3 wickets, before England collapsed with the bat and were all out for 145. Ravi Ashwin recorded his 35th 5-wicket haul, drawing level with Anil Kumble and reaching the landmark 33 tests quicker than the Indian great.
