Information On Cruising The Great Loop

Our Gues Host this week is Jim Stark, Executive Director of the Gulf Intracoastal Canal Association. Jim will fill us in on the issues facing the waterway and what the GICA is doing to address them.

Our guest host this week is Brad Pickel, Executive Director of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association.  Brad will talk about this status of this  waterway which is an integral part  of  America’s Great Loop. Our guest hosts this Friday will be Tom and Patsy Conrad. They will be discussing cruising the Tennessee River.

Our guest host this week is Jerry Nessenson, President of AGLCA Commander Sponsor, ValvTect Petroleum.  Jerry will be talking about the fact that new fuels require new winterizing additives

This week our gues host is Capt. Patti Moore of Sea Sense. She will be telling us about her recent trip from Hammond, IN to Green Turtle Bay in KY. Sea Sense is an AGLCA Sponsor, and Capt. Patti will give us an update on the river depths, currents, anchorages and marinas.

This Friday, our Guest Hosts will be Mike Ahart, News Editor for Waterway Guide Publications, and the famous fern of Hoppies Marina. We will be discussing the status of Hoppies Marina and the shoaling issue on the Mississippi River.

Our Guest Host this week is Capt. Gene Schnagl. Gene and his wife, Kathy, are AGLCA Harbor Hosts for Milwaukee. Today’s show will feature cruising and visiting in that wonderful city.   

This Friday our Guest Host will be Capt. Patrick Hopkins. Capt. Hopkins was on the first leg of the journey of The Greatest Loop by Beneteau, from Annapolis to New York City. He is also in charge of technical assistance to her different crews until she completes the Great Loop.

This is a replay of a show from last spring, featuring Joe & Mary Beth Amelia. The show focuses on sailing the Loop, as opposed to cruising the Loop. The special considerations for those people who want to do the Loop in a sailboat are discussed, things like stepping the mast and special skills needed. . It’s that time of year when our annual Loopers are approaching or in the Canadian Waterways, so we thought it would be advantageous to learn more about the beautiful Georgian Bay. Our guest this week is Harbor Host for that area, John Morrison. John will talk about the two different routes to cruise the Bay
