Psalm 33:16-22 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. 18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. 20 We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. 22 May your unfailing love be with us,Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

PSALM 33:6-9 6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars he puts the deep into storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded,and it stood firm.

Hear my prayer—     it does not rise from deceitful lips. 2 Let my vindication come from you;     may your eyes see what is right. 3 Though you probe my heart,     though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil;     my mouth has not transgressed. 4 Though people tried to bribe me,     I have kept myself from the ways of the violent     through what your lips have commanded. 5 My steps have held to your paths;     my feet have not stumbled.

Psalm 122:1-9 1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” 2 Our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together. 4 That is where the tribes go up— the tribes of the Lord— to praise the name of the Lord according to the statute given to Israel. 5 There stand the thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. 7 May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels. 8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” 9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity.

Psalm 31:1-5 1 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;     let me never be put to shame;     deliver me in your righteousness. 2 Turn your ear to me,     come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge,     a strong fortress to save me. 3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,     for the sake of your name lead and guide me. 4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,     for you are my refuge. 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;     deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

Psalm 41:1-6 1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;     the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. 2 The Lord protects and preserves them—     they are counted among the blessed in the land—     he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. 3 The Lord sustains them on their sickbed     and restores them from their bed of illness. 4 I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord;     heal me, for I have sinned against you.” 5 My enemies say of me in malice,     “When will he die and his name perish?” 6 When one of them comes to see me,     he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;     then he goes out and spreads it around.

Psalm 131:1–3 1 My heart is not proud, Lord,  my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. 2 But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother;  like a weaned child I am content. 3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore.

Psalm 49:1-11 1 Hear this, all you peoples;     listen, all who live in this world, 2 both low and high,     rich and poor alike: 3 My mouth will speak words of wisdom;     the meditation of my heart will give you understanding. 4 I will turn my ear to a proverb;     with the harp I will expound my riddle: 5 Why should I fear when evil days come,     when wicked deceivers surround me— 6 those who trust in their wealth     and boast of their great riches? 7 No one can redeem the life of another     or give to God a ransom for them— 8 the ransom for a life is costly,     no payment is ever enough— 9 so that they should live on forever     and not see decay. 10 For all can see that the wise die,     that the foolish and the senseless also perish,     leaving their wealth to others. 11 Their tombs will remain their houses forever,     their dwellings for endless generations,     though they had named lands after themselves.

Psalm 25:1-7 1 In you, Lord my God,     I put my trust. 2 I trust in you;     do not let me be put to shame,     nor let my enemies triumph over me. 3 No one who hopes in you     will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those     who are treacherous without cause. 4 Show me your ways, Lord,     teach me your paths. 5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,     for you are God my Savior,     and my hope is in you all day long. 6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,     for they are from of old. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth     and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me,     for you, Lord, are good.
