Psalm 37 1 Do not fret because of those who are evil     or be envious of those who do wrong; 2 for like the grass they will soon wither,     like green plants they will soon die away. 3 Trust in the Lord and do good;     dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Take delight in the Lord,     and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord;     trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,     your vindication like the noonday sun. 7 Be still before the Lord     and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways,     when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;     do not fret—it leads only to evil. 9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,     but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;     though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land     and enjoy

I hate what faithless people do;     I will have no part in it. 4 The perverse of heart shall be far from me;     I will have nothing to do with what is evil. 5 Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret,     I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart,     I will not tolerate. 6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land,     that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless     will minister to me. 7 No one who practices deceit     will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely     will stand in my presence. 8 Every morning I will put to silence     all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer     from the city of the Lord.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,     the people he chose for his inheritance. 13 From heaven the Lord looks down     and sees all mankind; 14 from his dwelling place he watches     all who live on earth— 15 he who forms the hearts of all,     who considers everything they do. 16 No king is saved by the size of his army;     no warrior escapes by his great strength. 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;     despite all its great strength it cannot save. 18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,     on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, 19 to deliver them from death     and keep them alive in famine. 20 We wait in hope for the Lord;     he is our help and our shield. 21 In him our hearts rejoice,     for we trust in his holy name. 22 May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,     even as we put our hope in you.
