Radical Grace/the Lutheran Difference

Ok, fair warning.  I sound like crap in this episode.  My voice was shot due to getting over some illness, and it frequently breaks apart.  I basically spoke in a monotone the whole time.  But still, we talked about the error of saying that 'Because Jesus is responsible for the whole world, and he's the one who created all of this, he takes responsibility for everything and takes the punishment"...  I know, it sounds weird, but that's exactly what you'll hear.  Remember, it's an error.  We don't believe this at all.  Also, Pastor decided we couldn't let 9-11 go without talking about it...  See, there are people who say we're talking about Grace too much, so he decided to talk about sin and subjagating people...  Well, you asked for it.

We're all about God's will, but the truth is, His will is often hard, and it's not recognizable as good for me.  Like for instance, for this show, I was coming down with something, Pastor Greg was getting over something, and Pastor Gary was still suffereing from something.  In fact, as I type this, I'm getting worse, but be that as it may. We also listen to some word/faithers teach us about Jesus being the first man to be born again, and how he suffered in hell in my place...  yup, it's weird.

In this edition of Radical Grace Radio, we talk about how the Spiritual Gifts are misapplied in such a way that Christians wind up broken and sorrowful. There was a woman at my old church, which was a Pentacostal Church, who was scheduled to recieve her "annointing" one night after many weeks of being taught about fruits of the spirit.  All the people who attended classes came up front to be prayed over and begin speaking in tongues...  but when it came to be her turn, she didn't start speaking in tongues.  She was inconsolable.  She thought that since she didn't speak in tongues that God had rejected her!  After all, if she learns what she needs to do, and does them faithfully, but she doesn't get the annointing to speak in tongues, what could that possibly mean? That's why we do this program.  We have no choice but to offer a corrective for stuff like this.  People's souls are riding on it.

In this edition of Radical Grace Radio, we decided to go back to some basics for the benefit of our new listeners.  It's not that we think they don't get it, but it's always good to go over the doctrine of Justification because this is the Gospel... It's a message worth fighting for and one worth dying for.

This is the Lost episode, where I was in Houston Texas for the convention back in July, and Pastor Gary was flying solo on live radio for the first time.  He talked about the historicity of the Resurrection, that it wasn't just a matter a mass halucination.  I called in from Houston, and we talked about the effects of the Gospel in history.  

Our identity in Christ...  That sounds like it's the most important thing we could learn about ourselves, but we're all carrying around too much baggage to get it, unless we learn something really simple:  Power does not necessarily equal Good.  Second thing is this:  The world religions are lying to you.  They have no power they can give you.  Nothing.  Only in Christ are you identified with power, and that power is Christ alone.

There's an entire generation that grew up thinking like a pagan, due to shows like He-Man and the masters of the universe...  is there a lot of difference between "holding aloft your magic sword" and "hold aloft your Bible"?  Not a lot if you expecting power to be given you from on high if you say the right words.    

In this edition of Radical Grace Radio, we first answer the error that says that Jesus is not God with Colosians 2:9, "for all the fullness of the Diety dwells in him in bodily form"...  Hmm...  Sounds like God to me. But we have to pick up on this idea that we can have a "reckless confidence in Christ"...  Listen as Tyrel Bramwell of Reformation Underground calls in to join the discussion.

In this edition of Radical Grace Radio, Pastor Gary takes on a tour of the parable of the 10 virgins.  Pastor took the month of June off from teaching Bible study because he wanted to take some time to go over the scriptures himself and see if there was something he was missing...  and we think he found it.  You may not think so at first, but this is a law and gospel moment in the making.

So this Lay Delegate walks into a hotel room...  and he's watching tv when suddenly an infomercial for "Body Gospel" comes on...  So, for 3 easy payments of 39.95, I can get the complete set of work out dvds where I can sweat and praise God to the latest and greatest worship songs, the body Gospel stretch bands, and I don't know what else I can get!  It's amazing if you ask me! Yeah, right.  I may be about to start my own weightloss program, but I think I'll make mine totally faith free. 

This edition of Radical Grace Radio was recorded in 2007, and hasn't been available online for over two years.  In fact, this show predates the cancelation of issues etc!  It was our first time on WWBC, we had just met Jerry, who is still our board op to this day, and pastor Gary and I sat down to practice some "necessary roughness" upon Oprah Winfrey and her psuedo gnostic flavors of Christianity.  The program has been updated to the sound that we have today.  If you'd like a copy of the original, you can email me at Lutherandifference@gmail.com and I'll be glad to get you one.

Does that sound weird?  You bet it does!  Almost as weird as the guys on Radical Grace Radio talking about Stem Cell Research and the dangers of Embryonic stem cell implantation...  Also we've offered yet another corrective for those who insist on Lordship Salvation.  This program was recorded before I recorded the John MacArthur Sermon Review.

In this edition of Radical Grace Radio, John MacArthur find his way into the "error and reboot" segment of the show with some strange comments he makes from a sermon where he asserts that people can understand and even believe the Gospel and still go to hell.  As a result of all this nonsense we have no choice but to talk about "lordship Salvation" and it's damaging effects on faith.How many of you remember this line?  "If Jesus isn't Lord of all, he isn't really Lord at all"...  I grew up with that silliness.  Why not just take a Holy Ghost Machine Gun and blow my head off?  Wait, someone said that once...

This program was deleted from the feed due to it being defective.  The file came out corrupted, but this one has been fixed.An Emailer wants to know, "am I unregenerate because I don't love like I should?"  The answer to that question isn't as intuitive as you might think. 

Paul Washer makes his debut in the "Fatal Error" segment, and the thrust of his comments nearly slipped by at least one of the Pastors.  Unfortunately, Paul Washer is a Lordship Salvationist, who preaches that the Gospel is merely a trust and obey proposal, rather than in it's proper sense of the preaching Christ and him Crucified. On the second half, we talk about a sign outside a Catholic Parish that says something utterly rediculous for Roman Catholics.  You'll have to listen to find out what it said.

Oh the things the Word of Faithers will say to make their followers think so highly of themselves.  Pastor Fred Price provides this edition's "fatal error". But on this edition of Radical Grace Radio we revisit the "Lukewarm Christian Test" and divide Law and Gospel this way:  which is more important?  The law of piety?  Or the law of love? On this edition of Radical Grace radio, we talk in the first half hour about a listener email that asks:   "At what point is my sin deliberate? I know I will commit tomorrow, the same sin(s)I committed today. I recite the Lord's prayer every night. I have guilt, but that doesn't matter. I know it's a sin, but yet I keep doing it. Is this not deliberately sinning against God, thus losing my salvation?" Then on the second half of the hour we talk about Judgment day, and why it seems that scripture is of two minds with regards to how we are saved.
