Radical Grace/the Lutheran Difference

This week on Radical Grace Pastor Greg LeSeiur joins us again to talk about end times.  This time we struggle to find Biblical reference to a 7 year tribulation...  Aaaaaand we think we found it.  Plus the doomsday clock!  Time is running out!

The beginning of a series on popular eschatology, Hal Lindsey, Left Behind, and Darby and his dispensationalistic end times dance. In this edition we talk about being left behind and how Jesus seems to think about this differently than popular teachers of today.

Why do people have such a tough time accepting a free gift? Very difficult question but we believe there is a simple answer.

Once saved always saved. On the one people want to us to stop putting God in a box with all this talk of doctrine. But on the other hand they put God in a box by trying to hold some doctrine over God. As though God can be held accountable to a doctrine. Also Rick Warren and his own words about how Jesus makes up the difference between my good works and the perfection I need to stand before God and not be destroyed.

TULIP is a the acronym that embodies much of Calvinistic theology. In this edition of Radical Grace we talk about Calvinism and the inherent problems the believer faces when contemplating these doctrines.

Believe or not sometimes Christians want to be persecuted. They do. Seriously. Also Pastor Gary tells us what he thinks is the real problem with the culture today.

There is a tendency of Christians today to use the law of God like a whip. Any time they catch someone in a quote sin unquote, they pull out that whip and begin lashing that someone relentlessly, beating down anyone who disagrees with them, using phrases like "you are religious" and "you are not saved" all the while. It is a game of Gotcha, the exact same game that the opponents of Christ played with him, constantly trying to entrap him in his own words and to prove that Jesus of Nazareth was a false prophet and a sorcerer rather than the living breathing Son of God.

The Morality Wars Of all the movements in Christian History, none have compared with the rampant Moralism that has taken root in our churches today. Where the true central article of the faith was once Christ and Him Crucified, and even such statements as Christ alone is central to all of our faith and practice used to be the norm, there has been a slow shift towards making our deeds central to our faith rather than our creeds. Where once the confession was that we believe in Jesus Christ, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilot, was Crucified, Died, Buried, and risen on the third day, the church at large has all but abandoned this simple proclamation in favor of what is seen as “Good Christian Morals”. Indeed, this is the message that is too often proclaimed instead of the cross.
