During our sermon series bringing gospel to trauma, we spent four sermons looking at the past. Last week, we looked are who are in the present. In this final sermon, we move into the good future that Jesus has for each of us with a word on mission.

This is the third installment of our sermon series bringing gospel to trauma. We not only define what is meant by a disorderly imagination. We go much further. The Spirit himself gives through his Word a renewed imagination grounded in the truth of God's loving protection.

No longer able to be a distant, even cold, observer, the male voice asks the great question of our sermon series on gospel and trauma, 'What can I say for you?' The response we get is the first of God's healing gifts to the hurting: the gift of lament.

Confirmation Sunday is the best of Sundays. It is a treasured milestone in a Christian's life. After a basic but thorough study of God's word, the person is prepared to receive the Lord's Supper together with those who confess the same truths. Confirmation Sunday is the worst of Sundays. It's fraught with the temptation to view the study of God's word as a terminal degree. This sermon is about overcoming that temptation, so that we remain in the Lord and in his word our whole life through.
