With the calendar flipping over to August, the return of the SWPL is imminent as champions Celtic host Dundee United a week on Saturday live on BBC Scotland, with the rest of the opening day league fixtures taking place a week on Sunday, including Aberdeen hosting Rangers on BBC Alba. Dave got together with John Bl and Charlie to preview those upcoming fixtures as well as a run through of the twelve teams and how they think they'll do this coming season. There's even a collection of five-a-side teams made up of players to watch out for. Of course, there's also been international action since the last women's football podcast, so there's a reflection on the Euro 2025 qualifying campaign so far, one which also sees Scotland return to Nations League A thanks to topping the table, as well as looking forward to the playoff structure that stands between Scotland and a third tournament qualification. S14E3 Championship Preview 24/25 We're back with another preview as we turn our focus to the Scottish Championship. John is your host and is joined by returning guests from our specials last season in Ali, Katie and Robert. It's a family affair as Heather's dad Alan steps in to represent Partick Thistle. We have a couple of new additions to these episodes though they're no strangers to the podcast as Alan (Air Force Wan) and Euan join the team. Everyone is feeling optimistic as competitive football is due to start again on Saturday with the League Cup. We discuss signings that each team have made so far, where teams still need to strengthen and youngsters to look out for. Sadly it's the last of our Morning After the Night Before podcasts and this one feels like the most painful of hangovers as Scotland bow out of Euro 2024 following an agonising 1-0 defeat to Hungary. The moment we've all been waiting for since the Euro 2024 draw was made. Dave is joined by Clare Gemmell to review last weekend's Scottish Cup final which saw Rangers win the competition for the first time and complete a League Cup and Scottish Cup double. The final is discussed in the context of a season that saw Rangers denied a possible treble only on goal difference behind Celtic, with just two defeats in the league all season and one of those came away to their fellow cup finalists Hearts. With attention now turning to the Nations League and Scotland's double header, Dave and Clare discuss the call ups and how the team might fare first at home to Israel behind closed doors, and then away to Israel in a game being played in Hungary. Our latest podcast is a review of the Premiership season with fans of all the teams in the league. With the SWPL title wrapped up in dramatic style for the second year running, and a Scottish Cup final to look forward to this Sunday at Hampden, Dave is once more joined by Eva Murray to discuss all things in women's Scottish football. Before the title celebrations, there was a huge midweek that saw Celtic beat Hearts 3-1, and Dave caught up with Elena Sadiku and Kelly Clark after that match for their thoughts on what could happen at Celtic Park. There is a bit more from Elena after Sunday's drama, along with her team gatecrashing the interview! Eva gives us her view on how things played out at Broadwood on Sunday as Rangers came agonisingly close to regaining the title, before turning focus on champions Celtic.
