  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 291 - Signs of Life

    10/04/2021 Duración: 57min

Have we all been here many times before? How can we know for sure? What signs should we look for that we've lived one....or many....past lives? This week we talk with author and researcher James Matlock about his book "Signs of Reincarnation". Things like sporadic memories of a place or person, birthmarks and physical defects could all be residual effects carried over to this lifetime from lives lived long ago. Sounds incredible, right? Of course it does.....but at what point do thousands of cases worldwide make skeptics into believers? • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 290 - Fools and Ghouls

    10/04/2021 Duración: 51min

This week we explore the origins of April Fools Day. Should we blame the ancient Romans or possibly the Greeks for the whoopie cushion on our chair? Also, Rick and Skeptic Mike get into a discussion about belief in the paranormal following a news story about how humans just might have the genetic makeup that will allow us to one day produce cobra-like venom. Was this part of the reason for the start of vampire myths? Is Mike obsessed with a child whose body is apparently magnetic and can be used to store cooking utensils like a sale item at Bed, Bath and Beyond?    Toxic Radio

Settled in the 15th century, "The Pines" are chock full of mysteries, legends and lore. This week we talk with author, musician and folklorist Paul Evans Pedersen, Jr about Pine Barrens tales ranging from the Jersey Devil to a tribe of albinos called the Jackson Whites to the infamous, bottomless Blue Hole.    New Tales from Old Haunts: The Legendary Pine Barrens (Paul Evans Pedersen, Jr)   Down The Pines (website)   Toxic Radio

Since then he has gone on to help thousands of clients overcome the grief of losing their cherished pets and has penned three "Pets and the Afterlife" books chronicling what he has learned about the spirit life of our "fur babies" and how they continue to influence and help us after they're no longer here with us in body.    Rob Gutro (Blog) Pets and the Afterlife (Amazon) Toxic Radio

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 287 - Pirate in the Pines?

    05/03/2021 Duración: 55min

The NJ Pine Barrens are vast, mysterious and the perfect place to hide something you don't want found. Is that exactly what the infamous Captain Kidd did with his treasure over 300 years ago? This is just one of many legends that have nothing to do with the Jersey Devil that have come out of the million acres of cedar water rich lands known locally as "the pines". Tonight we discuss some of the lesser known lore of the NJ Pine Barrens. Also, we dig into some recent Paranews with stories about mutated chickens, a 5,600 year old woman who still likes to rock and roll, directionally challenged buffaloes and more!!   Breaking News/Paranews of the Week - Mysterious Universe Toxic Radio

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 286 - Screen Door?

    20/02/2021 Duración: 54min

You see them every day. People with their heads buried in their phones, tablets and computers. They seem dazed, fixated and mesmerized like they can't look away for more than a few minutes lest they miss a post, tweet or meme. But is there something there in that little black glass looking back at us, perhaps with evil intent? This week's guest is author Christopher Laine and he thinks that just might be the case. In his latest novel "Screens" Chris explores the worst case scenario for a society that has slowly forgotten how to live in the real world.    Christopher Laine (website) Screens (YouTube Trailer) Toxic Radio

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 285 - Vinegar Valentine

    12/02/2021 Duración: 56min

Chocolate candy hearts, roses and heartfelt declarations of everlasting love. Yep, it's Valentine's Day again. That time of year when men, feeling guilty over hogging the TV all football season, pony up for a fancy dinner at that pretentious restaurant where they make you eat your dessert with a separate fork and a piece of jewelry that comes from a store monitored by real life security guards. We say enough of that noise! This week, think of us as your one stop ANTI - Valentine as we discuss the darker side of love. From curses to strange superstitions to 19th century nasty-grams sent to trash talk that guy or gal that just won't leave you alone, sit back and enjoy hearing just how cra-cra folks got in the old days either trying to get hit by or avoid being hit by Cupid's arrow.    Toxic Radio   Folklore Thursday

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 284 - Calling Cards

    06/02/2021 Duración: 01h06min

Natal charts, psychic readings, tarot and astrology. These are just a few of the methods that this week's guest uses to help her clients get a better understanding of their place in the world and maybe even see a glimpse of their future. Renee Watt is known as Hollywood's "Psychic to the Stars" but she's so much more than that. After developing her mediumistic gifts at a young age, Renee has spent years learning and honing her mastery of divination, spellcraft and card reading. Now, in addition to her vast client base, she has a successful podcast called "The Glitter Cast" as well as a livestream called "Betwixt the Shadows" that she co-hosts with Sal Santoro. Tonight, Renee sat down with me to discuss a wide range of topics including alien life, past lives, how belief plays a part in getting an accurate reading and more. • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 283 - In The Zone

    31/01/2021 Duración: 51min

The late 1950s/early 1960s were a time of staunch conservatism in America. This ideology was prevalent in the mainstream entertainment Americans watched on their television sets and at the local cinema. Rod Serling was a man with a message but it wasn't a message many at this time wanted to hear. A talented writer, Serling was also a student of history and he knew that to get a message through a fortress wall, sometimes you needed to give the gift of a Trojan horse. "The Twilight Zone" was that gift and in the guise of science fiction, black comedy and horror Rod Serling's voice reached out to open the eyes, ears and hearts of a fascinated public. This week we welcome award winning journalist, film historian and archivist Steve Vertlieb to the show as we discuss the cultural impact of "The Twilight Zone" and how Rod Serling's message is still relevant over 60 years after the show's debut.    Steve Vertlieb (Facebook) From Forry Ackerman to Orson Welles: The Views and Reviews of Steve Vertlieb (Amazon) Toxic

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 281 - The History of Humbug

    21/12/2020 Duración: 45min

In the early decades of 19th century England a young boy lived in abject poverty and bore witness to the evils of a society hell bent on keeping the lower class in its place under the heel of the wealthy. Eventually that boy grew up to become one of the world's most famous authors and he often wrote scathingly about the injustice in the class society of Victorian England. Arguably, his most famous story dealt with forces of the supernatural putting a miserly old banker named Ebenezer Scrooge in his place and showing him the err of his ways. The novella, "A Christmas Carol" won Charles Dickens critical acclaim but also helped usher in a new appreciation for the Christmas season and with it, the idea that just maybe money and social standing weren't as important as charity, empathy and love.    Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from our Paradelphia Crew to all of our awesome viewers, listeners and fans!!   The Man Who Invented Christmas Toxic Radio

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 280 - Raising Your Spirits

    16/12/2020 Duración: 46min

What role did Mary Magdalene play in the ministry of Jesus? How much of the story of Exodus is true? Was the Emperor Constantine nearly as big an influence on Christianity as Christ himself? This week we talk once again to author/channeler/healer Barry Strohm about his latest book "Spirits Speak: Channeling Jesus and the Holy Spirits" to find out the answers to these questions and more. • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 279 - New Blood

    05/12/2020 Duración: 50min

In this COVID crazy year the world of cinema has had to rethink everything from scripting to shooting locations to distribution. Less is definitely more. This week's guest is built for this environment. Since his debut film "Deadly Gamble" in 2013, South Jersey native Mario Cerrito has seen his stock as a young filmmaker rise year after year. In 2020, his third feature film "Human Hibachi" debuted to rave reviews and "earned" a banned label from Amazon Prime. This week we talk with Mario about his career, the state of horror films in this wacky virus riddled world and what 2021 holds for Cerrito Productions. (Hint: it involves Hollywood heavy hitters and a throwback to 80's slasher films). Also, we are all in on The Krampus Crypt-Mas Spectacular, the latest streaming event by our friends at The Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, PA as they serve up some virtual scares for the holidays.    Mario Cerrito (Facebook) Human Hibachi (website and streaming) The Krampus Crypt-mas Spectacular (starts 12/5 @ 7pm ET) To

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 278 - Green Lives Matter

    20/11/2020 Duración: 53min

Plants. Every day we're surrounded by them. Under our feet, towering above our heads, living side by side with us in our own homes. We buy fertilizer and sprinkler systems to help them grow and then when they grow we cut them down with garden shears, lawn mowers and chainsaws. We yank them out of the ground and throw them in boiling water or just devour them on the spot. But did you ever stop to wonder what THEY think about how we treat them? Do they know you and your intentions towards them before you even open the garden shed to grab the pruning shears? Tonight we discuss "The Secret Life of Plants" by Peter Tomkins and Christopher Bird and I guarantee you will be nothing short of amazed at the research they discovered. Before you pull out the Lawn Boy or order your next caesar salad you might want to give this show a listen......and watch what you think and say because.....they can hear you.   The Secret Life of Plants Toxic Radio

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 276 - Flood of Grief

    23/10/2020 Duración: 53min

In March 2011 the northern seacoast of Japan was visited by devastation unlike anything experienced in that country since the atomic bombings of WW2. The largest earthquake in Japanese recorded history struck just off shore and unleashed a 130ft tall tsunami that slammed into coastal villages and towns snuffing out the lives of over 13,000 people in minutes. Then the ghosts started showing up. This week we discuss "Ghosts of the Tsunami" by Richard Lloyd Parry and how culture and belief can play a huge part in how we experience the paranormal. Also, this weekend marks the release of "Human Hibachi", the latest film by award winning local filmmaker Mario Cerrito. Already BANNED by Amazon Prime, "Human Hibachi" isn't safe for work or for those faint of heart but if you're looking to take the gore factor up a notch or 20 this Halloween season you can rent and stream the film directly off the link in our show notes below.  Human Hibachi (website) Ghosts of the Tsunami (Amazon)  Toxic Radio

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 275 - Highway to Hell?

    09/10/2020 Duración: 52min

Running through the heart of South Jersey, Route 55 has been a freeway leading to the fun and sun of the Jersey Shore for a generation but it's dark, cursed history tells a different story. From bizarre deaths during its construction to odd clusters of fatalities, could an ancient Native American curse still bedevil the roadway today? Also, Dash Daring joins us to talk about this weekend's upcoming "A Nightmare on Bridge Street" virtual event presented by the Colonial Theatre of Phoenixville, PA. If you loved this summer's virtual Blobfest, hold onto your fangs and boiling cauldrons because their Halloween celebration is going to be Spooktacular!!   Nightmare on Bridge St (website) Toxic Radio

  • Paradelphia Radio: Ep. 274 - The Hidden Path

    07/10/2020 Duración: 01h02min

Mostly associated with evil doings and dark entities, the word "occult" has taken a beating over the past few decades. This week's guest strongly disagrees with that narrative. Sal Santoro has been practicing occult magick and spell work for over 30 years. As co-owner of The Crooked Path, an apothecary shop in Burbank, CA, Sal believes that occult knowledge is more like a tool that can be wielded for good or evil. The word itself simply means hidden information and Sal has devoted his life to bringing that knowledge out into the light where anyone with an open mind can use it in their everyday life.   The Crooked Path (website) The Crooked Path (Facebook) Toxic Radio
