Dan and Garrett are joined by Andy Elijah and Ryan Silberstein from cinedelphia.com to celebrate 100 episodes of I Like To Movie Movie! This episode brings the Summer Movie Wager to a close as the gang reviews their results and the winner chooses a film for this episode, which ultimately ended up being Blade Runner. This makes a nice bookend to our Alien: Covenant episode and is a perfect lead-in to the release of Blade Runner 2049. We'd like to wish all of our Flutebenders a Merry Bone Tomahawk and thank you for listening. Onto the next 100! twitter | Facebook | tumblr | iTunes --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 97 - Before The Devil Knows You're Dead

    30/07/2017 Duración: 02h06min

Garrett and Dan are back to honor and celebrate the lives of the legendary filmmakers who have passed away. George Romero's passing lead the boys to wanting to discuss not only his legacy, but the legacy of the many great filmmakers that have since passed on into their live's post-credits sequence. The boys ultimately decided to watch Sidney Lumet's final feature, Before The Devil Knows You're Dead, another excellent 2007 film, which they've been celebrating lately as well. They also spend time discussing Romero's work and influence on them as well as their favorite director's that are no longer with us. twitter | Facebook | tumblr | iTunes --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 95 - Last Action Hero

    26/06/2017 Duración: 01h34min

Dan and Garrett welcome back a Super Crappy old friend, Kevin Lau, to talk about one his favorite movie movies, Last Action Hero. Perhaps ahead of its time as a parody film that also works quite well within the genre it's parodying, a la an Edgar Wright film, Last Action Hero only gets better as Schwarzenegger continues to make movies, further solidifying his brand. Written by Shane Black only 5 years after he created the modern buddy cop film with Lethal Weapon, it's no wonder people weren't ready to see him make fun of himself and his style. But today this movie holds up as a genuinely funny action comedy with plenty of fun, big moments thanks to director John McTiernan, of Die Hard fame. Join us on July 15th at Milburn Stone Theater for a screening of I Am A Knife With Legs. twitter | Facebook | tumblr | iTunes --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 94 - Hanna

    11/06/2017 Duración: 02h11min

Garrett and Dan took a listener recommendation this week and decided to celebrate the release of Wonder Woman with another female-led action film in the form of Joe Wright's Hanna. Neither of the boys had seen this before and were more than rewarded for trusting the audience - Hanna is stellar and more than earns its place among the great action movies of the last 30 years while never forgetting that it's about a young woman in a violent world. Or phrased another way, it's about women. Complete with one of the best one-take action sequences since Oldboy, Hanna enraptured the Movie Movie boys from start to finish and deserves to sit alongside Wonder Woman as one of the great action heroines. Join I Like To Movie Movie at The Milburn Stone Theatre in MD on July 15th for a special screening of I Am A Knife With Legs. $5 gets you into the show, a free popcorn, and the opportunity to win some prizes. facebook | twitter | tumblr | iTunes --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 93 - Alien: Covenant

    28/05/2017 Duración: 02h40min

Dan and Garrett are joined by Ryan Silberstein and Andy Elijah of Cinedelphia to discuss Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, the latest entry in the franchise that he birthed through his chest nearly 40 years ago. At age 79, Scott once again reminds us that he knows what we want years before we do - and what we want is dueling-flautist-Fassbenders. The gang delves into just how well this Prometheus/Alien mash-up works, and then discusses their Summer Movie Wager rankings. Join I Like To Movie Movie at the Milburn Stone Theater in MD on July 15th for a special screening of I Am A Knife With Legs. Tickets are available now, only $5, and include free popcorn! We'll also be playing some classic Movie Movie Live games and giving out prizes. facebook | twitter | tumblr | iTunes --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 92 - Zodiac

    14/05/2017 Duración: 02h56min

Garrett and Dan welcome back Dan Santelli of Viva Video to celebrate the anniversary of 2007, perhaps the best movie year of its decade, with David Fincher's Zodiac. Though a bit under-appreciated at the time, Zodiac has gone on to be considered one of Fincher's best films and indeed represents the decade it was made in very well. In a post-9/11 America, we were still scrambling to regain a sense of safety and our place in the larger world we were reminded we lived in, much like the characters in this movie which is also about planting a seed of fear that brings ruin even to those not targeted directly. We're having a contest this week! Leave us a 5-star review on iTunes and tell us what movie to review next - we'll choose one and make it a future episode. Movie Movie will be hosting a special screening of  I Am A Knife With Legs on July 15th at the Milburn Stone Theater in Baltimore, MD. Tickets available soon. twitter | Facebook | tumblr | iTunes --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast

  • 91 - The Fate Of The Furious

    01/05/2017 Duración: 02h23min

Dan and Garrett face their F8 with guest Emily Martin. Emily joins the Movie Movie Fambly to discuss everyone's favorite team of bald, world-saving, DVD-player thieves and to answer that age-old question: "Did xXx: Return of Xander Cage do it better?" The Fambly also discusses their Top 5 Non-Action Moments of the Fast & Furious franchise as well as news of the possible Hobbs/Shaw spin-off. • 90 - Free Fire

    16/04/2017 Duración: 01h34min

Dan and Garrett welcome Ivo Tomas back to the show to discuss Ben Wheatley's latest film, Free Fire, which opens in theaters on April 21st. Before doing their typical, spoiler-heavy discussion of the movie, the gang talks about the recently released Thor and Star Wars trailers and has a lengthy, spoiler-free chat about Free Fire that you can listen to before seeing the film. They also chat about their favorite films set in the 1970's that weren't made in the 1970's and announce their upcoming screening of I Am A Knife With Legs on July 15th in Baltimore, MD. • 89 - Time Crimes

    03/04/2017 Duración: 01h58min

Garrett and Dan sit down to talk about the criminally under-seen, modern time-travel classic Time Crimes. With director Nacho Vigalondo's latest film Colossal about to hit theaters, the boys thought it would be fun to re-visit his first feature-length film, a personal favorite of theirs. Not only does Time Crimes hold up, it proves to be an exceptional Movie Movie, utilizing only a few sets and some distinct costumes to weave a dense and thrilling time-travel story about contentment. The boys also chat about the IT trailer, cast the supposedly upcoming American remake of Time Crimes, and recount the story of Dicknose - this, you do not want to miss. • 88 - Dawn of the Dead (1978)

    19/03/2017 Duración: 02h29min

Garrett and Dan and joined by returning champions Ivo Tomas and Andy Elijah to talk about the winner of our recent pole, George Romero's Dawn of the Dead. Using a unique setting for a horror film, Romero takes his basic zombie premise of consumption and broadens its scope both literally and metaphorically. In effect, he makes a bigger, meaner horror film while also making a richer, more satisfying satire than his previous outing in the genre, criticizing the American notion that living is not enough in and of itself, it is instead living well that gives us purpose. The gang also chats about a few movie news stories and gives a rundown of their 5 Favorite Horror Locales. • 87 - Get Out

    05/03/2017 Duración: 02h26min

Dan and Garrett are joined by Philadelphia comedians Abeeku Cobbina and Setoiyo to chat about Jordan Peele's directorial debut, Get Out. With one of the tightest scripts in recent memory, Peele delivers a thrilling social satire about race and otherness in the supposedly "post-racial" America we tried to lay claim to during the Obama administration. As the gang attempts to unpack every bit of imagery and metaphor, they're continually lead into frank conversations about blackness in America, blackness in horror movies, and how Peele intertwines the two to create a narrative that is both enlightening and constructive, rather than instructive. If you've yet to see Get Out, this podcast is SPOILER heavy and we recommend seeing the film before listening. The film is currently playing in theaters, enjoying much deserved critical and financial success, and you should buy a ticket right now. Follow us on twitter @ilike2movie and, in honor of Get Out, vote on which social satire we should review next: Dawn of the Dead

  • 86 - 2017 Oscar Oscar Preview

    19/02/2017 Duración: 03h22min

Garrett and Dan are joined by Cinedelphia.com's Jill Malcolm and Ryan Silberstein to discuss, predict, and champion those not nominated at the forthcoming 2017 Oscars. The gang does a full rundown of this year's nominees, discusses some categories they'd like to see added to the show, and fantasizes about various actors agreeing to live on their private islands known as "The Guylands." • 85 - Knowing

    29/01/2017 Duración: 02h27min

Dan and Garrett are joined by Alex Pearlman, co-creator of the patented Bone Tomahawk Greeting©, to talk about an oft-maligned sci-fi classic of the aughts, Alex Proyas' Knowing (or for you diehards out there, Know1ng). While Proyas' films can be silly and over the top, they wear that on their sleeve and use it to create big, memorable images and explore philosophical concepts made accessible through blockbuster packaging. Knowing is an excellent example of Proyas working double duty to entertain you and open you up to a larger discussion about faith and meaning in the universe. And it certainly doesn't hurt that it happens to a be Nic Cage movie with a particularly Cage-y performance as a Chaos Theory obsessed Professor of Astrophysics with a drinking problem. Seriously - you should see Know1ng. Follow us on twitter Like us on facebook Rate & Subscribe on iTunes Follow us on tumblr --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 84 - Boogie Nights

    08/01/2017 Duración: 02h23min

Dan and Garrett come out of 2016 swingin' with Dan's all-time favorite Movie Movie, Boogie Nights. Jam packed with memorable scenes, fantastic performances, and a young PT Anderson's stylish tracking shots, Boogie Nights uses the transition from film to video that the porn industry went through in the 80's to unpack the simultaneously changing movie industry, and even the actual cultural transition that was occurring in America at the time. By putting character first, Anderson made one of the most iconic films of the 90's that is equally as uplifting as it is harrowing, and ultimately reminds us that sometimes we just need to ask for help - a timeless and undervalued piece of advice. • 83 - Best Movie Movies Of 2016

    23/12/2016 Duración: 04h04min

Happy Bone Tomaholidays from all of us here at I Like To Movie Movie! Garrett and Dan ring in the new year with special guest Andy Elijah of Cinedelphia to talk about their Top 10 favorite Movie Movies of 2016. While the year may have been lacking in great studio movies, it was chock full of independent releases that prove that great films are still being made, the system is simply changing. The boys try to parse out some themes from the year's movies, like facing grief and communication, as well as talk about some of their least favorite releases of the year.  Happy New Year folks, we'll see you next year! • 82 - Back To The Future Part III

    11/12/2016 Duración: 02h42min

Dan and Garrett welcome a longtime friend and fan of the show, Becca, to discuss one of her favorite movie movies, Back To The Future Part III, which also happens to be part of her favorite genre of film - the third chapter's of trilogies. The gang discusses the choice to shift the focus of the story to Doc Brown, the art of achieving entertaining exposition, and whether this story finally breaks the (somewhat) sound logic of the series' timeline. They also chat about the influence of Dr. Who on the Back To The Future series, their reboot/legacequel pitches, and list their favorite "fake technology" in films. • 81 - Elle

    28/11/2016 Duración: 02h48min

Merry Bone Tomahawk Thanksgiving from Garrett and Dan! This week the boys are joined by Dan Santelli of Viva Video to celebrate the return of Paul Verhoeven with his new film Elle. Always the provocateur, Verhoeven delivers an entertaining, blackly funny film that is as difficult and uncomfortable to talk about as it can be to watch. Wrestling with meaning and intention proves difficult here, but that's precisely why it's deserving of a conversation.
